**What the charity does:** The Piobaireachd Society was set up to ensure the very survival of the classical music of the great highland bagpipe.  These days, it is about encouraging the study and performance of this great music so that it continues to flourish.  We do this by. publishing music and reference books on piobaireachd, the history of the bagpipe and it's music. promoting the study and playing of piobaireachd through our annual summer school and talk piobaireachd online sessions. promoting the performance of piobaireachd by running competitions and concerts. and to encourage the study and performance of piobaireachd through grant funding which supports schools and events where piobaireachd is taught and played.
