Objectives and Activities

glorify God and to work for the advancemeiit of Christ's Kingydom IhrouLrhout the world. As a nalioiial
Church. tt acknowledgies a distinctive call and duty to bring the ordinances of religyion to the people in every
pai'ish of Scotland throiigh a territorial ministry. It co-operates with other Church¢s in various ecumenical
bodies in Scotland and bcyond.
Sei'vice of worship is nonnally conducled at I1.15am each Sunday morning and ai 6.30pin on the first
Sunday of every month. Communion is celebrated three times a year, mornin8 and ¢v¢ning. Special services
are conducted for Easter, Christmas. B¢r¢av¢mcnt and when requested by other groups Wlthin the Church.
Achievements and Performance
Am)adale Parish Church was begun in 1863 as a mission station by Bathgate Parish Church. It continues lo
be a thriving, warmly welcoming congregation in the niidst of the town with an avcragc Sunday woi'ship
attendance of ai'ound 60 faithtul people. During most months, an infoi'mal Communion service is held on the
fll'st Sunday evening. We also hold special Remembraiice services for those in the Parish who have lost
loved ones in the prior 12 months as well as a Blue Christmas service just before Christmas, and we observe
times of worship in the local nursing home within our boundaries.
We host a large and active Girls, Brigade tor all age groups, Boys, Brigade Anchoi's and Juniors, and a Girl
Guides chapter in addition to very involved Guild and fell(Iwship Groups. This year included the addition of
Zumbini and Messy Play classes for babies and toddlers as well as a monthly Coffee and Chat Group, which
ha8 been exceptionally well-attended. We continue to host a Thi'ift Shop, which serves both fundraising and
felluwship functions, In August, we hosted our first Holiday Club for tnany years with the help of oui.
Sun)mei' Woi'ker. hired through the progJram of the Presbytery of Edinbui'gh and West Lothian. Children
from all three of the local priinary schools wei'e registeiEd, wilh an aver¢igJe daily attendance of 25. One of
the major additions to the iise of our buildingis was an agireement two years ago for tlie local Catholic
Congregation. St. Barbara's (foi'merly known as St. Anthony's). to hold Mass and other events in our
facilities. Their building has been condemned due to the use of Reinforced Autoclaved Aeraled Concrete
(RAAC) in its construction. It has b¢¢n ¢all¢d by some a woiiderful act of ecumenical hospitality.
Stewardship continues to be in the church's diary. as urged by the General Assembly. Oclober has b¢en
d¢signated Stewardship month, as it was in 2024. We explored th¢ ¢l¢ments of Time, Talent, and Money
through worsl)ip eacli week, with the elders leading one of the servic¢s and will be considering the new
matci'ials on Nature of Generosity for the 2025 season.
We continue to look toward makingi our halls fully accessible to those with physical limitalions and are very
much looking forward to progi'essing witli this major Inove and makiiig our facility as welcoming as our
people ￿'e, now that tlie Piesbyteiy of Edinburgh and West Lothian Missioii Plan is coming to fruition.
