Annual Report of the Members of the Vestry
Inlroductlon
The Veslry is pleased to present the annual accounts for St Saviouls Church for the year ended 30
September 2025. We are a cOng￿allOn of the Scottish Episcop81 Church whose oty'ective is lo
advance the mission of the Christian Church through worship, seNice and fellowship. We aim lo do
this through supporting existing Church membets thrO￿h worship and prayer oatherings and
encouraging new members of 811 ages. The annual re￿rt and accounts P￿sent a summary of our
finanaal activrties during the year and gives an oveNlth¥ of the general 8clivilies that have taken FAace
in our church in the past year.
Actlvltles and achl•v•m8nls
Under the guidance of our new Redor, the Reverend Aaron Moffat-Jackman. numbers 8ltending the
Sunday moming and other services have risen. The ministry team for the linked charges of Saint
Saviours and Saint Modocs, Doune, has been reinforced by the arrival of the Reverend Nelson Okeke
as a non-stlpendiary priest.
Worshlp Is supported in 8ddrtion by our t￿) lay readers. and by membefs of the corvJregation
18ke the prayers, read the lessons and welcome visilots. A new rosary prayer group meets once 8
month. The choir h8$ g8ined a new lease of lrfe. A music machine accompanies congregational
slnglng when the org8nist is not av8118t￿e.
The Young Adults group, run loinlly wllh St Mary's Dunblane arKI Holy Trfnity, Stirting, h8s grown In
strength. Ils activities ttave ranged from games nights and bart)ecues to attending a Pnde march. In
confomilty wth new legi518tion, the cndenll8ls ol 811 PVG volunteern have been upJate(l.
Collaboration with Bndge of Allan Parish Church has been 8 fealurn of the yeor. Thls Induded a Lent
course on leamirwJ lo pray and o joint service on Easter momiThJ.
The church has reached out to Ihe community in various ways. The church garden, open lo all, has
been enhanced by new fumiture and by the rerlanted sensory garden. Food and basic necessities
have teen contributed to the Slirting Start Up projea. The Wednesday welcome offers free t88.
coffee, soup and a chat to 811 who wish lo take advantffje of Tl. Teas were provided 8t the 8ridge of
Allan Open Gardens everrt. The funds raised al coffee after church go lo a variety of chatilies. SorAal
8Ctivities organlsed by Church membets twl open to all now ind￿je a Carw BovAs Group in addition
lo the w81kestablished Walking. Book 8rK1 Garyjening Grou￿.
Communicatlon Is ensured by a regular magazine and a weekly Few slip which is disp81ched to thè
congregation digitally on Ffiday while g paper veNon is made available in church on Sunday.
Extensive use is also made of social media. particulady FacetKsok. This year a new website was
created jointly for Saint Saviour5 and Salnt Mcrtjocs.
This year the church has had to face Iwo major calls on fts finances. Wet rcl discovered in the hall
floor pul the hall out of commission for several monlhs. Lead ￿pe5 supplying water to churctt, hall and
factory require to ￿ replaced. Ests'mates have been obtained and grants applied for. The work will be
Carried out as soon as p)ssible.

Financ•
One of the main concerns of the Trustees has. as o￿TaY$, been the finanaal ￿sItiOn of the Churth.
The year has ended ¥wth 8 significant surplus, but this was largely due delay in the payment for
PToperty imFfovemenls, in particular Ihe replacemenl of the reclory doffter vrindows. The year ended
with 8 surplus of £14.204. Congregational giving was static as was the excellent effort of the fund
raising team. The surplus was also helped by Ihe re￿1[1 of buildirMJ grant from the EFis¢opal Church.
With many costs being shared Nwth St Mc*Joc's. the financial prospects for the future appear
comfortable, but the age of the congreg8tion, inflation. and the burdens of energy and repaits a
current threats lo income and eXpendrtu￿. In addrtion there is the need to do suf)stantial work on thè
all. rts floor needs extensive repair, and the develoFxnent of the resl of the building has still lo be
foThulated. In the church itsem. the obsolescent he8tirwJ system is failing. Re￿laCement will be
nece55ary in the short le￿.

St Saviouls has unrestricted and restricted ￿$8￿e5. un￿StriCted reseprfes can be spent on any
relevant aclivrty,. restric*ed reseNes c8n only be spent on the acaivity for which they We￿ given. Thè
latter comprise funds for Music, the Drop in Cent￿, and for Flowers. 11 is the Church's policy to
maintain a reasonable level of unrestricled ￿seNe5 to protect against any wtenlial downtums in the
Church's income Of unforeseen significant costs. so thal the Church could maintain its a￿1VIts.eS for a
reasonable period until replacement funding is otrtained. These reseNes a￿ also held to provH1e
base lor further develokynent ￿ the Churra)'s prowy arKI aclivities.
Inv•stmonts
Sl Savlour's Church makes monthly invesiments of unrestrlcted funds. Shares are purch8sed In
th8 Amity UK Fund, administered by Eden T￿e Investmenl Management. 8 member of the
Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. The investment objeclive of Ihe Fund is lo provpae long-te￿ capital
appreciation 8nd 8 reasonable level of income. which is r&invested in the fun¢J. 11 seeks to invest In
companies that make a positive conlribution lo the quality of indivKlual and communrty lrfe and to the
environment. The Fund invests prinupally in companies incorp)raled andlor listed in the United
Kingdom. The Fund seeks to avoid inveslment in companies which have a material invofvement In
the production of alcohol and also avoKls companies wtlh matenal interests in tobacco, gambllng, the
production of magazines or other media of an exKAi¢it or violent nature, the manufacturino of
armoments. countries wffiich th￿alen the indiv￿U81,s IvJht to liberty, and companies where 8nim8ls
are experimented on for cosmetic purwses. The Church also holds unrts in the Scottish Episcopal
Church Unil Trust po￿ fsEC UTPI. administe￿0 by BaiS1ie Grfford. The investment poli￿ of the SEC
UTP, vthi¢h acoords wtth thal ol Ihe Vestry, is to eam 8 felum on the assels, over the long le￿￿,
sufficrenl at le8St lo mainlain Ihe ￿al value of the distribution lo untl holde(s. The SEC UTP has
developed an ethical inve*rnenl wlicy. No investments will be made in companies Ihat derive more
than 1 S% of their revenue from lobacco. gombting or amaments. The m8jority ofthe SEC UTP is
Invested in UK equities.
Structurn, gov•man¢• and management
st Saviour's is an unincorwrated aS￿l8t10n govemed by a consiitution approved by the Bishop on
19 April 2011. As a member cOng￿atIOn of the unit￿ Diocese of St Andrews, Dunkeld and
Dunblane in the Scottish E￿5¢Opal Church, it is also govemed by the Canon Law of the Scottlsh
Episcopal Church. The rnanagement team of the Church is knovm as the Vestry. For the purwses of
charities law, the members of the Veslry a￿ the Charity Trustees of the Churoh. Details of the
Trustees are given on page 2. Ordinary Vestry members are elecied by the Congregation at an
Annual Meeting. Vestry members usually serve for a tem) of 3 year5. The Rettor is ex-officio
member of the Vestry. The Lay Repre5enl8tive and ￿ternate (listed on page 21, elected annually by
the congregation, are ex-offioo members of the Veslry. The Veslry Secretary, when necessary,

charities.

The Vestry Is restKlnsible for managing and safegu8rdino the assets of the church and assists the Reclor
in matters affecting the spritual welfare of the congregation. 11 is also resp)nsible for keeping proper
accounting records and ensuring Ihal Ihe accounts are prepared in accort18nce with the le￿S of the
Charities and Trustee Inveslmenl (S¢olland) Ad 2005 arKI Ihe Charities Accounts {Scotl8ndl Regulations
2006. The Vestry regulady Conside￿ the risks faced by Sl Saviourfs and enSU￿S that appropriate risk
management procedures are in ￿ace to MIt￿ale those risks.
Rolalionship wilh lh• Dioc•s• and Provlnc•
Sl Saviourfs is supported by the Diocese and the Provinr£ through the pastoral overslohl of the Bishop,
centr81 support funclions provided al Diocesan level 8ThJ occasionally grants from central funds. The
Church is represented at Diocesan level by the Reclor and the Lay Representative. As a member of the
SEC, St Saviourfs has an obligation to contribute lo the cosls of the Diocese and the Province through
payment of an annual 'quota'. This amount Is based on the relative level of income of the Church in
comparison wrth that of other churches in the ￿0¢ese aTrJ Province.
