St Saviour's Church, Bridge of Allan Annual Report of the Members of the Vestry Inlroduction The Vestry is pleased lo present the annu81 accounts for St Saviour's Church for the year ended 30 September 2024. We are a coNJregalion of the Scollish Episcopal Church whose objective is to advance the mission of the Chrislian Church through worship, 5ervlce and fellowship. We aim lo do this through 5upporling exisling church membetB Ihrough worship and prayer gatheftngs and encour8ging new members of all ages. The 8nnual port and accounts presents a summ8ry of our financial activrties duTing the year and gives an oveNiew of the gener81 activrties that have taken place in our church In the p8St year. Activltl•s and achievement$ In Mld-January 2024 our new rector, serve the Ilnked charoes of Sl Savioui £ ali look Ltp hls appointment lo ocs. oune. The two charges sh8re the related costs. The Rector and his family live in St Saviour's Re¢tory. Sl Modoc'5 not havlng such accommodation. Much uparading work on the rectory was rried oul just before the new ffjeior look up residence. Various further insulation and energy saving measures have been corneted in the cour3e of Ihls year, helped by grants from the Scottish Episcopal Church. The arrN81 of the new rector after a tWO&year vacancy was a great boost lo the congregation. The average number attending Sunday morning seNices has increased. To lake account of Ihe Reclor's dual SPonsIbl1rt1es, the lime of the Sunday moming service was moved from 10 to 11a.m. This has on the whole been well received by the congreg8lion. Worshlp Is supported by our two lay readers, and by members of the congregation who lake th prayer5, read the lesson5 and welcome visitors. The choir has gained a new lease of life. On many Sundays we benefll from the 181enls of a dedicated member of the cOnggation who plays the Oan, A muslc m8chine accomp8nies congregational singing when the organist is not avallable. Youno Church Is supported weèkly by dedlcaled leaders. Attendance swells at Chrlslm85 and special OCC8slons. The Young Adults group, run jointly with St Mary's Dunblane and Holy Tfinlly, Slirting, saw an influx of new faces in the autumn, many of them OVOTse8s students from the student residence five minltles from the church. Collaboration with Bridge of Allan Parish Church has been 8 feature of the year. This included a Jolnt tea sland al a village celebralion in June and 8 joint Harvest Festival service and lunch In SeFlember. Outreach to the community has included an extensive leaflet drop in Ihe earfy autumn, 8nd the in51rtution of Wednesday Welcome al the start of Oober. This offers free tea. coffee. soup and a Chat in the church hall to all who wish lo take 8dv8nlage of it. The church garden is now advertised as being open to the community. Part of tt has been replanled as s sensory gar(len. W7ih the dedlc8ted efforts of the congregation, the church. church hall and grounds have been extensively used for fun and fundraising activities, raising over £4.000 They included a bingo nigm. two concerts, a car bool sale and a Bridge of Allan Open Gardens event. The funds raised have gone to the church and in part lo charities, notably Slrathcarron Hospice. Soci81 aclivities org8nised by Church members bul open to all now include a Carpet Bowls Group in addilioll lo the well-eslablished Walking, Book and Gardenlng Groups. 131

Having taken tlme to get lo know the congregation, the rector, in collaboration with the Vestry, has recenlly18unched o survey asking members lo reflect on the future of the ¢onGregalion. A five ye8r plan is in preparation. This will lake account of the challenges faced by Ihe church, notably a congregation which, though growing. is not gelllng any younger. Finan¢0 One of the main concerns of the Trnslees has, as 81ways. b88n the financial position of the Church. The pVIouS year had ended a significant surplu5, but this was18rgely due to the inlerregnuffl when no sliwnd was pay8ble. In the year lo 30 September 2024, with the arrival of the new rector. it was pald from January, Recruitment and remov81 costs partly offset savings from October 2023 until his arrival. The year ended with 8 surplus of £6,533, Congreg8tion81 giving showed an IncaSe of 13% and ao8ln the fund raislng team provided great support. The surplus was glso helped by the ceipt of bltilding grant from the Episcopal church which. because of timing differences, exceeded the rep8ifE and maintenance which were prlncipally d1cted lo the Ctory. With many costs b8lng shared with Sl Modoc's, the financial PTospec15 foi Ihe futur8 appear comfortable, bul the age of the congregation, Inflation, and the burdens of energy and repalrs are current thats. Reserves Sl Saviour's has unr8slrloted and reslrfcted reseN05. Unreslricled reserves can be spent on any relevant activity.. reslrlcted SerVeS can only be spenl on Ihe acllvlty for which they were given. InstMentS Sl Saviour's Church makes monthly investments out of unreslricled funds. Shares are PLtr¢hased In the Amity UK Fund, adminislered by Eden Tree Investment Management, a member of the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. The investment objective of the Fund is to provKJe long-lerm capital appreciation and a aSonable level ol income, which is re-invested In the fund. 11 seeks lo Invest in companies that make a posilwe contribution to the quality of individual and communrty lrfe and to the environment. The Fund invests principally in companies Inc0rated anwor listed in the United Kingdom. The Fund seeks to 8void investment in Companies which have a materi81 invo¢Ment in the production of alcohol and also avoids companies with material inlergsls in tobacco, gambling, the production of magazlnes or other medla of an eXicit or violent natu, the manuf8Cturing of armomenls, countries whlch threaten ihe IndiVal'S rHJhl lo liberty, and companies where animals are experimented on for cosmetic purposes. The Church also holds units in the Scollish Episcopal Church Unil Trust Pool I"SEC UTP.), admini51efed by 8aillie Gifford. The investment policy of the SEC UTP, which accords with that of the Vestry, is lo eam a relum on the as5els, over the long lem. sufficient al least lo maintain the re81 value of the distribution to unit holders. The SEC UTP has developed an ethical investment policy. No inveslmenls will be made in companies that derive more than 15% of their revenue from tobacco, gambling or amamenls. As a member ConggatiOn of the United Diocese of St Andrew5, Dunkeld and Dunblane in Ihe Scottish Episcopal ChuTch, it Is also governed by the Canon Law of Ihe Scottish Episcopal Church. The management te8m of the Chufch is known as the Vestry. For the purposes of charitie5 law, the members of Ihe Vestry are the Charily Truslees of the Church.
