The charity was set up to provide a meeting and discussion forum for all Burns Clubs within the Glasgow area. This includes 10 established Clubs. Club representatives are Trustees of GDBA and share in our goal of educating the general public on the life, works and heritage of Robert Burns. The key event for GDBA is the annual wreath laying ceremony at the Burns Statue in George Square, Glasgow on the occasion of the Bard's birth date. This is followed on the Sunday by a service of worship at Glasgow Cathedral where the sermon relates in part to the commemoration of Robert Burns. Other events include Dinners or Concerts with relevance to the celebration of Robert Burns. Funds include subscriptions from member clubs and donations from collections or raffles etc. We provide Christmas Hampers for Jean Armour Burns Houses in Mauchline, Ayrshire.
