Activities
The objects of Newry Indian Arts Club shall be to advance education, arts, culture and community development for the public benefit, in particular but not exclusively within the Newry, Mourne and surrounding areas, through the following means: 1. To advance the education and personal development of children and young people by providing opportunities to learn, practise and perform traditional Indian performing arts, thereby developing skills, knowledge and confidence. 2. To promote, preserve and advance Indian arts, culture, heritage and traditions through educational, artistic and community-based activities accessible to the wider public. 3. To encourage artistic development, cultural exploration and creative expression in accordance with the organisation’s guiding principle, “Evolve, Explore and Express,” meaning: o Evolve: Supporting individuals, especially children and young people, to develop skills, confidence and artistic ability through structured learning, practice and performance opportunities. o Explore: Providing opportunities to explore Indian cultural heritage, artistic traditions and creative ideas through workshops, performances, collaborations and community engagement. o Express: Enabling participants to express themselves creatively through public performances, showcases, cultural events and artistic projects accessible to the wider community. 4. To promote social inclusion, integration and community cohesion by supporting the welfare and coordinated development of members of the Indian community and by fostering positive engagement with the wider community. 5. To represent, where appropriate, the collective interests of its members in matters relevant to the charitable objects of the organisation, acting independently and in furtherance of the public benefit. 6. To promote equality of opportunity and good relations in compliance with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, and to operate in a manner consistent with the Equality Act 2010, ensuring that all activities are inclusive, non-discriminatory and accessible.
