Constitution
The charity was formally established in 1976 and is governed by its constitution. Main activities and Achievements
The Trustees are pleased to report another successful year for Antrim Coast Lions club. Our main source of funding is our Charity Shop which opened in 2013 and is staffed by members and volunteers. This generated £29,022 for the year ended 30th June and continues to grow in newly renovated, leased premises. Other fundraising sources include BBQs, quizzes, raffles and collections. The club distributed funds and goods to the value of £14,178 to local charities, groups and causes. All charities and groups funded by the club all use their funds in a manner consistent with the aims of the Lions Club. The largest spend occurred during the Christmas period and covered festive gifts to local school children, elderly residents and those residing in local nursing homes. Among the services provided is assistance with the coordination of the annual Carnival and the recycling of reading glasses which are donated to us through various community collection points, refurbished and reused in third-world countries for a second life.
The club currently has twenty-seven members who meet monthly (on the first Monday of the month) to agree the activities of the club. All the members pay an annual subscription, which contributes towards the running of the club, including insurance and materials.
