EUROCALL Annual Report 2025
Headquarters and secretariat
EUROCALL’s Headquarters is located at the Ulster University Coleraine, Northern Ireland in the School of Education. Mrs Toni Patton coordinates the secretariat and Professor David Barr is the Treasurer. Both are appointed members of the EUROCALL Executive Committee.
Executive Committee
Members of the Executive Committee for the period in question are listed below. Members of the Committee attend twelve meetings a year online. One meeting takes place face to face in August, normally at the expense of their own institution. In between meetings, discussion is carried out through a closed e-mail discussion list. Several committee members also serve on the Academic Advisory Panel of EUROCALL’s journal, Re CALL , and on the programme committee for EUROCALL conferences. EUROCALL does not pay any fees for the services of its committee members.

Membership
Total membership of EUROCALL on 30 June 2025 was 264members. There has been an increase this year from 135 members last year. The countries with the highest membership numbers are Japan (52), UK (32), Italy (22), France (20). EUROCALL’s membership is firmly based Europe with 168 European members and 96 members coming from outside of Europe. The most popular category of membership is the standard rate at 90 euros. There has been a decrease in purchase of the 3-year membership from 32 last year to 22 in 2025. CALICO members have increased this year from 2 last year to 9 members in 2025. May 2025 was the peak month for membership subscriptions. On inspection of the ‘Sales Insights’ from PayPal, from January 2025 our sales income totalled £13,540.41. A total of £8,580 of these payments were from new members. Domestic payments via PayPal totalled 9.33% of the PayPal income whereas international payments totalled 90.67%. The main international countries submitting membership payments this year were: Japan, USA. April and June are also active months in terms of PayPal payments bringing in approximately £1600 each in these months. The highest total membership sales were from Japan. EUROCALL continues to operate a reciprocal arrangement with CALICO, so that members of these associations may avail of a reducedrate membership of the sister association.
Finance
EUROCALL currently has a strong membership base with successful annual conferences all contributing to EUROCALL funds. ReCALL as another major income revenue stream. The organisation has maintained a good membership base in the financial year. Receipts in 2024/25 totalled 45,491
euros with 22,178 euros in EUROCALL membership. Payments received from Cambridge University Press in 2024/25 totalled 13,313 euros. Payments for the period totalled 34,701 euros. Staff costs reached 27,957. All office expenses are purchased through the School of Education at Ulster University. Surplus for the year totalled 10,495 euros. At 30[th] June 2025, cash funds were 27,448 euros. It is hoped that the 2026 conference will also return around 10,000 euros to EUROCALL.
Publication
Three issues of Re CALL were distributed via Cambridge University Press. These were available to subscribers electronically by password access. It is noted that from 2022 the ReCALL journal has only been available online.

Members are able to access a wide range of relevant resources via the EUROCALL website, - http://www.EUROCALL languages.org including internet resources for language teachers and learners, as well as other valuable event resources, all accessible via the members-only area on the website.
The Association’s peer-reviewed online journal, The EUROCALL Review is available via the EUROCALL website with two issues per year. This can be accessed at:

The EUROCALL website domain at http://www.EUROCALL-languages.org is maintained by Cédric Sarre, Executive Committee member, and hosted by 123 Reg. The Executive Committee is continues to update and improve the website and the members’ area.

EUROCALL has a large number of followers on LinkedIn, Facebook, Bluesky and Twitter.
National Contacts
National/regional representatives act as contacts in their own particular regions, setting up local websites to stimulate relevant activity locally and to promote membership of EUROCALL. The representatives meet annually at the conference to share ideas.
Conference
The EUROCALL Conference took place online in Milan in 2025. The EUROCALL 2026 Conference will be held in Belfast in September 2026. This will be a face to face/onsite event. Information n the event can be found here
Special Interest Groups
EUROCALL currently has active Special Interest Groups or SIGS in the following areas: CorpusCALL, LMOOCs, Less Commonly Taught Languages, MALL, Teacher Education, Graduate SIG, XRGBLL (Virtual Worlds) and AI. The SIGS are co-ordinated by Jaime Selwood in Japan, who is a member of the EUROCALL Executive Committee.

Affiliations
Contact with major national and international associations such as CALICO and IALLT and JALTCALL continues. WorldCALL acts as an ‘umbrella’ association, with its headquarters at Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain.
