Objectives, Activities and Charitable Purposes
The principal purpose of the charity is the advancement of the Christian faith.
This is achieved through the running of monthly get together meetings with coffee, chat, crafts and faith stories. In addition the charity runs an annual summer youth camp, carries out ongoing visiting within the area, arranges ad hoc get-togethers and days out for beneficiaries.
The Trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake. The Trustees are satisfied that the Charity has achieved its objectives in the period under review.
Public Benefit
in fulfilling the public benefit requirement, the charity trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s statutory public benefit guidance.
The purposes of this charity and the direct benefits that flow from the charity's activities continue to be; children, young people and adults being helped spiritually, having a greater understanding of God and His love for them; and that He has a wonderful plan for their lives if they follow Him. Additional benefits which flow from our work include children and adults social skills and physical and mental wellbeing being improved by the opportunity and encouragement for children, young people and adults from different backgrounds to meet together, play games together and interact through various activities.
Benefits are demonstrated by young people and adults living better lives. Instead of living for themselves and being selfish they are keen to serve God and others. Many also progress into leadership. Other benefits are demonstrated by children, young people and adults continued attendance at the clubs, participation in activities and increased interaction among the different groups. There is no harm from our purposes. We follow good practice in terms of safeguarding and public safety legislation. The people of Bushmills and surrounding area who attend our monthly meetings and anything we organise. No direct private benefit occurs. An incidental benefit is derived by volunteers who give of their time in that they themselves are blessed and encouraged in their lives because they have helped young people in their life’s journey.
Direct benefits flowing from the organisation's purpose;
-
Eternal salvation and adoption into the family of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
-
The spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, bringing reconciliation both between human beings and God and between human beings.
-
The gaining of an understanding in Christian beliefs as set out in the Bible and the Doctrinal Statement of the Church leading to spiritual and moral development and personal growth in the Christian Faith.
-
The provision of regular Christian education, helping people to understand, live out, defend and promote the Christian gospel of Jesus Christ.
-
Practical expressions of Christian beliefs and standards in the local community such as through the care of those in need, assistance and comfort to the sick, elderly and bereaved. - The development of individual ability and gift through the engagement of willing volunteers in practical and spiritual service.
-
The positive impact on society that comes from the living out of a Christian worldview.
