1 About the International Association for Carbon Capture (IACC)
1.1 What is IACC
IACC aims to promote carbon capture research and technology and deployment, thus contributing to reducing CO2 emissions and mitigating climate change for a better living environment. To achieve this aim, IACC will organise carbon capture conferences, workshops and seminars; promote collaborations between academics, industries and other carbon capture organisations; support early career researchers to carry out cutting-edge research; increase public awareness of the needs of carbon capture and encourage the young generation to consider low-carbon-emissions technologies and behaviour; and contribute to international communication for carbon capture development.
1.2 Our Responsibilities
IACC acts as a data controller when it processes your personal data in connection with the Services, except when the Services relate to the promotion, publishing, and operation of a Hosted Journal. In this case, IACC processes your personal as a data processor acting on behalf and upon instruction of the relevant partner who act(s) as the data controllers.

1.5 Strategy in Action
During the reporting year, IACC continued to translate its mission into action through a series of strategic initiatives aimed at advancing carbon capture research, technology, and collaboration.
1.5.1 Strengthening Knowledge Exchange
IACC organised a number of international conferences, webinars, and technical workshops that brought together leading academics, industry experts, and policymakers. These events provided an open platform for sharing the latest advancements in carbon capture technologies and discussing strategies for practical implementation. Details are below:
-
IACC Carbon Capture Training Course - Introduction of Carbon Capture Technologies, 27 November 2024 (online)
-
IACC Carbon Capture Training Course - Characterisation of solid sorbents, 13 January 2025
-
IACC Carbon Capture Training Course - Application of solid sorbents for CO2 capture, 14 January 2025
-
IACC Carbon Capture Training Course - Characterisation of solid sorbents, 7 April 2025
-

-
IACC2025 annual conference, Birmingham, 18-19 September 2025 (in person)
1.5.2 Supporting Early Career Researchers
Recognising the importance of nurturing future talent, IACC provided mentorship opportunities, presentation platforms, and visibility for early-career researchers. Through travel grants and online training sessions, we helped them engage with global experts and expand their research impact.
1.5.3 Promoting Industry - Academia Collaboration
IACC actively facilitated partnerships between universities, research institutes, and industrial organisations. These collaborations have led to new research proposals, technology demonstrations, and pilot projects that accelerate the transition of carbon capture from laboratory to industrial application.
1.5.4 Enhancing Public Engagement and Awareness
To increase understanding of carbon capture’s role in addressing climate change, IACC released open-access educational materials and recorded sessions from training events. Public outreach activities also encouraged younger audiences to consider careers and lifestyles that support a low-carbon future.
1.5.5 Advancing Open Science
In line with our commitment to openness and transparency, IACC expanded its online repository of recorded lectures, publications, and resources. This initiative continues to strengthen our role as a knowledge hub for the global carbon capture community.
Through these focused actions, IACC demonstrates its ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between research and real-world deployment, supporting innovation, and building a sustainable, low-carbon future.
