Public Benefit Reporting Sacred Heart PS PTA is run by a group of volunteer parents and staff to organise social events that develops and strengthens home-school relationships as well as occasionally raising funds to purchase educational resources for the children at Sacred Heart Primary School. The PTA also support the school by providing hospitality at school events and volunteering for roles in school such as gardening and after schools clubs. Role of Charity The purpose of Sacred Heart PS PTA is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by: Developing effective relationships between the staff, Parents and others associated with the school, Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school. and To advance the education of the pupil8. Purposes of the Charity The Charity has two purposes: Purpose 1: Improved relatlonshlps between home and school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support Public Benefits Purpose 2: Advanclngihe educatlon of puplls In the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links builtwith the localcommunity. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources. events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm and the benefit is for children at Sacred Heart PS. How the charity h88 mitigated any harm flowing from its purposes Neither purpose leads to harm. Beneficiaries Children aged 5 to 13 who attend Sacred Heart Primary School, Rock. Restrictions on who can benefit Benefit is restricted to pupils to attend Sacred Heart Prirn8ry School. 21Page
Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Private benefit The PTA held a number of events for the school community and wider local community. These gave pupils access to activities which would not have been available through direct school funding. The events also helped to reinforce the relationship between p8rents and the school. aswell as to help strengthen ties to the local community. Events were a coff ee morning on 22- Activities and Achievements th October2023, a table quiz on 4 November 2023 and a Christmas disco on 10" December 2023. The PTA purchased 10 laptops which benefited all pupils in the school to allow them greater access to the internet to support their studies and enhance their IT experience and knowledge. The PTA paid for the decor and equipment for a new Sensory Room. The Sensory room provides a safe and supportive space for students to escape the potentially overwhelming environment of a busy classroom and heLps them learn how to manage their emotions. A summary ofthe charity's activities (the direct charitable activities, rather than fundraisingor governance activities) and an explanation of how those activities have provided a benefit to the charity's beneficiaries The PTA provided art therapy for pupils dealing with bereavement and complex social and emotional needs. Art therapy helped the children expressthemselves and find the wordsto talk abouttheir thoughts, feelings and needs. The results included improved engagement in class and general wellbeing. The PTAfunded the supply and installation of a polytunnel for the school. This is key outdoor learning space for the pupils enhances learning, mental health & wellbeing. and environmental awareness. The Charity Trustees confirm they have had due regard to the Commission's Public benefit requirement statutory guidance when exercising any powers or duties to which it is relevant. Due Regard The main fundraising activities of the PTA duringthe period of this report were the coffee morning, quiz night, Christmas disco and Easy Fundraising platform. Atot81 of £3313 was raised. Prior to the 1" full financial year the PTA also benefited from the fundraising of £17.469 by 2 parents in the form of a 24hr walk on A review of the charity's financial position atthe end of the year th 28 April 2023. This money sustained much of the spending for the YE Aug 24. Expenditure included laptops, sensory room décor & equipment, Art Therapy, Polytunnel, event expenses and subscription to Parentkind, the membership association for school PTAS. Total expenditure in the period was £9788. 31Page
