Financial review
Reserves Policy
The Board of Directors have examined the charity's requirements for reserv¢s and consider the current
level lo exceed the requirements to continue operation throughout the 2026 and 2027 financial years. The current level of reserves
available to the charity is £58,315. £21,031 of these fvnds are Unreslric￿d.
This provides sufficient fund5 to cover charitable expenditure, support costs and governance ¢osts.
Stru¢¢urei governance And mAnAgement
The board of directors can only appoint new trustees. A motion must be put forward by one direGtor and a show
of hands determines if Ihe majority agrees.
The ¢harity is J oharitable company limited by guar&niee and was incorpor#t¢d on 22 March 201 t. It is governed by

The Trustees (who are also directors of Burren Community Associhtion Limited for the purposes of company
law) are responsible for preparing th¢ Trustees, Annual Report (including the Directors, Report and Strategic Report)
and the financial ststements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards
(United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair
view of the State of affairs of the charitable company and of the incoming resources and ttpplication of resources, including the
income and expenditure, of the charitable company for that period. In preparing these financial statemenls, the trustees
are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently,.
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP.
make judgements and estimaies that are reasonable and prudent.
state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures
disclosed and explained in the financial statements.
prepare the financial sta¢ements on the going concern basis unless il is inappropriate to presurne that th¢
charitable company will continue in operntion.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disc105e with re&sonable accuracy at any time the
financial position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure Ihat the financial statements comply with the
Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, the Charities (Annual Retum) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 and the
Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking
reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

operations and principal activities are the provision of a community hall for a wide tange of social, ctsltural and
educational activities for the benefit of the local community.
The charity constilutes a public benefit entity a5 defined by FRS I02. The fin8n¢ial slatemenis have Eeen prepared ITr E4ccDrdance
wilh A¢¢ounting and R¢portin8 by Chwities.. Siaiemcnt of Recommended Practice appli¢able io charili¢s preparing their
accounts in accordance with, the Financial Reporting Standard 8ppli¢gble in the Unired Kin8dom and R¢publi¢ of

have been raised by the charity ftir particular purposes. The cost of raising and admini5fering Such funds are charged
a8ains¢ the specific fvnd. Th¢ aim and use of each restricted fund is set oul in the nol¢s to the financial statem¢nts.
Endowment funds repr¢s¢nt those assers which must be held pennanently by the Charity, prin¢ipally the building.
Income arisin8 on the endownment funds can be used in accordance with the objects of the charity and is included
unrestricted income. Any Capital gain5 or losses orising on ihe inv¢stm¢nts fonn part of the fund. Investhi¢nt
management charges and le8al advice relating to the fvnd are charged agaiiist th¢ fund.

In¢om¢ recognition
All incoming resources are included in the Statement of Fit)ancial Activities (SOFA} when the charity is legally entitled
to the income after any performance conditions have been met, the amount can be measured reliably and il is probable
that the income will be received.
For donations to be recognised the charity will have been notified of ihe amounts and the settlement dale in writing. If
there are conditions attached lo the donation and ihis requires a level of performance before entiilement ¢an be obtained
then income is deferred until those conditions are fully met or the fulfilment of thosc conditions is within Ihe ￿sn1r01 of
the charity and il is probable that they will be fulfilled.
Donated facililie5 and donated professional services.are re¢ognised in income at their fair value when their economic
benefit is probable. il can be measured reliably and the charity has control over Ihe item. Fair value is d¢l¢rmined on the
basis of the value of the gift to the charity. For example the amount ihe charity would be willing to pay in the open
market for such faciliiics and services. A corresponding amount is recognised in expenditure.
No 4mount is included in the financial statements for volunteer lime in line with the SORP.
Incom¢ from 8fp¢nts are recognised at fair value when (he charity has entitlement after Any performance condition5 have
been met. il is probable thai the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably. If entitlement 15 not met
Ih¢n these amounts ar¢ deferred.
Other income includes the rental in¢ome receiv¢d from the rental of the building. It is included when the amount can be
measured reliably and is recognised as the charitys right lo receive payment is established.
Expenditure recogniilon
All expenditure 15 accounted for on an aeerua15 basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs
related to th¢ Category. E,¥penditure is recognised where there is a legal or constructive obligation to make payments lo
third parties. it 15 probable Ihat the settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured
reliably. It 15 calegori5ed under the following headings:
Expenditure on Support Costs. and
Expenditure on Governance Costs.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged a5 an expense againsi Ihe activity for which the e.xpenditure arose.
