Financi#l review
Reserves Policy
The Board of Directors have exarnined the charitys requirements for reserves and consider the c￿￿ent
level to exceed the requirements to continue operalion through)ut the 2025 and 2026 financial years. The current level of reserves
available to th¢ charity is £68.551. £27,892 of these funds are unrestricted.
This provides 5uificient funds to cover charitable expenditure, supwrt costs and governance costs.
Stru¢turey governance and man4gement
The board of directors can only appoint new Irustees. A motion must be put forward by one director and a show
of hands deterniines if the majority agrees.
The charity is a charitable company limited by guarantee and was incorw)rated on 22 March 2011. It is govemed by
a memorandum of association. The charitable company's registration number is N1606728 and its registered office is
Burren Community Hall. 14 Bridge Road. Burrcn. Warrenpoint. Co Down, BT34 3QT.
The company is approved as a charity under the ternis of the Income and cOr￿Tation T￿e$ Act 1988 and the

The Trustees (who are also directors of Burren Community Association Limited for the purposes of company
law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Annual Report (including the Directors, Report and Stralegic Report)
and the financial staiements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Stsndards
{United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Praciice).

Burren Community Association Limited is • Ch8ritsble Company based in Northern Ireland. In the eveni of the charity
being WOW￿ up. the liability in res￿Ct of the guarantee is limited to El per member of the charity. The address of the
r¢gisi¢red o￿l¢e is given in the charity inforniation on page 3 of these firthncial ststem¢nlS. The nature of the ¢hariWs
operations and principal activities are the provision of a community hall for a wide rang¢ of gxial, ¢ulftnl and
educational aciivities for the trKnefit of ihe local community.
The charity constitutes a public benefit enriry as defined by FRS 102. The financial stst¢ments have i*£n prepared in accordance
with Accounting and RetM)rting by Charities.. Ststernent of ReCoMme￿Ied Pra¢ti¢¢ appli¢able io charilies preparing iheir
accounts in accordance witt the Financial ReFL)rting Standard applicable in ih¢ Unii¢d Kingdom and Republic of
Ireland (FRS 102), the Charti¢s Act 2011. the Comp8ni¢s A¢t 2006 and UK G¢nerally Accept¢d A￿￿n[ing Practice.
The charity has applied Upda* Bulkiin l as publithd on 2 February 2016 and dces ￿ include a flow statement on the
grounds that it is applying FRS 102 S¢¢iion IA.
Th¢ financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis under the historical CO￿ convention. nKNJified to include certain
iiems ￿ fair value. The flnancial sia*m¢rtis are w¢s¢nt¢d in swling which is the fiuKiional currency of the charity.
The Si￿lfIcant accounting wlicies applied in the preparation of t￿se financial statements are set klow. These policies
have becn consistently appli¢d to 415 y¢3rs pres¢tt¢¢d unless oth¢rwis¢ stsi¢d.
Funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the tr￿￿teeS in furtherdnce of the general objective5 of the charity
and which have not been desI￿ated foi other purFws.
Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been ￿ aside by the trustees for particular purFk)5es.
The aim and use of each designated fund is set out in the notes io the financial swements.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in a¢¢ordan¢¢ wrth srt¢ifi¢ restrictions iM￿sed by donoTS or which
have been raised by ihe charity for particular purwjses. The CO￿ of raising and adminisiering such ful￿ are charged
against the specific fund. The aim and use of each Testricted fijnd is set out in ihe to the financial statements.
Endowment funds represent those assets which rn￿t be held permanenily by the charity. principa]ly t￿ building.
Incorne arising on the endownment funds can be used in a¢¢ord8n¢e wilh the obJe¢ts of the chaTity and is inrluded as
nrestricted income. Any capitsl gains or loss¢s arising on rhe tnvemments fom part of the fund. InvesDneni
management charges and legal advice relating to the fund are charged against the fijnd.

Ineome reeognition
All incoming resources are included in the Statement of Financial A￿1vItieS (SOFA) when the charity is legally entitled
to the income after any perfomiance conditions have been met. the amount can be measured reliably and it is probable
Ihat the income will be re¢eived.
For donations to be recognised the charity will have been notified of the amounts and the settlement date in writing. If
there are conditions attach￿ to the donation and this requires a level of perfomiance before eniitlemenl can be obtained
Ihen income is deferred until those conditions are fully met or the fulfilmenl of Ihose conditions is within the conirol of
the ¢haTity and it is probable that they will be fulfilled.
Donated facilities and donated professional services are reCO￿lSed in inwme at their fair value when their economic
benefit is probable: it can be measured reliably and the charity has control over the item. Fair value 15 deiermined on the
basis of the value of the gift to the charity. For example ihe amouni the charity would be willing to pay in the open
market for such facilities and services. A cOrres￿ndIng amouni is recognised in expenditure.
No amount is in¢luded in the financial ststem¢nts for volunteer tim¢ in line with the SORP.
Income from ￿artL$ are recognised at fair value when the charity has entitlement after any wforrnance condilions have
been met. it is probable that the in¢om¢ will be received and the amount can be rn¢asured reliably. If entitlement is not met
then these amounts are deferred.
Other incom¢ includes the rental in¢om¢ rff¢ived from the r¢ntal of the building. It 15 included when the amount can be
measured reliably and is recognised as the charity's right to receive paymeni is estsblished.
Expenditure rttognitlon
All expenditure 15 accounted for on an acctuals basi5 and has been classified under headings that awegate all Costs
relaled to the category. Expenditure is recognised where there is a legal or constructive obligation to make payements to
third parties, il is probabl¢ that the settlement will be required and the amunt of the obligation Can be measured
reliably. It is categorised under the following headings..
