Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

Trustees’ report for the year ended 31 March 2025

The Trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.

Dear Supporters,

As we reflect on the past year, Lost and Found Pets North Down Rescue & Rehoming is thrilled to share the impactful goals and achievements achieved with your unwavering support. Our commitment to rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating stray, abandoned, and surrendered pets remains at the forefront of our mission, and your contributions have made a significant difference. Over the second part of the year, we have not rehomed as many pets as we usually would have done due to a shortfall in foster homes. Rehoming pets has always been, and will continue to be, one of the most important aspects of our mission. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey. Together, we make a difference in the lives of animals and their families.

Goals and Achievements 2024/2025 :

  1. Successful Reunification – Our dedicated efforts have led to the successful reunification of hundreds, if not thousands, of misplaced pets across various species, bringing joy and relief to countless families.

  2. Diverse Rescues – Lost and Found Pets North Down Rescue & Rehoming has extended its reach to facilitate the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of diverse animals, including hedgehogs, wild and domestic birds, and ducks. This expansion broadens our impact on the local wildlife.

  3. Emergency Accommodation – Providing emergency accommodation for stray pets has been a crucial service, offering a safe haven while we work tirelessly to reconnect them with their families.

  4. Public Education – Our commitment to educating the public on existing laws and responsible pet ownership has strengthened, fostering a community that values and advocates for the welfare of all animals.

  5. Preloved/Abandoned Pets – We continue to provide safe spaces, veterinary care, and a meticulous adoption process for preloved and abandoned pets, ensuring they find loving homes and second chances at happiness.

  6. Volunteer Force Expansion – With your support, we have successfully expanded our volunteer force, enhancing our capacity to respond to the growing needs of our community.

  7. Search and Rescue Training – Team members have undergone comprehensive training in both ground and aerial searches for missing pets, equipping us with the advanced tools to enhance our rescue efforts.

  8. Drone Pilots Licensing – Our in-house drone pilots have been trained and licensed, allowing us to deploy cutting-edge technology in location and assisting lost animals.

  9. Deceased Pets Support – We’ve implemented a compassionate service to recover and organise the return of deceased pets, providing solace to bereaved families during difficult times.

  10. Animals Welfare Advisory – Our gateway advisory service remains a vital resource for members of the public reporting animal welfare concerns, ensuring a swift and effective response to critical issues.

  11. First Aid Training – Three of our team members are now fully first aid trained.

Additional Costs :

Your continued support allows us to meet these financial demands and sustain our commitment to the well-being of all pets in our community.
