‘Friends of West Winds’ aims, through our fundraising activities, to support West Winds Primary School & Nursery Unit in helping to finance resources and equipment that will help advance the education of the children and to help fund special events; we aim to develop effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with West Winds Primary School.

A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public
benefit and the main achievements in the year
Monthly ‘Tuck Shop’; well supported each month by pupils P1-P7
October - Nursery —- ‘Guess the sweets in the jar’ competition and Halloween fancy dress disco; over 70 pupils in each disco session (P1-P4, P5-P7)
December- Christmas class hampers, ‘Coffee and Cake’ at Nativity plays plus raffles, Santa visit and presents | . March - ‘Lady You Love’ afternoon tea (Mother’s Day) — well attended by mums / grannies and children, however more mums turned up without a ticket so we were short with seats / refreshments etc; Easter colouring competition ,
April- ‘Chocolate Bingo’ night; great support from families, full hall, tables from community groups also e.g. Scrabo Presbyterian BB and elders.,Local Councillorwas the bingo caller
June - Father’s Day ‘bacon baps’ at Sports Day (not successful), uniform shop; more parents accessing uniform shop this year
Our activities are a fun way to raise money for school projects, events and resources; we aim to engage with as many children in the school as possible as well as running events to engage parents in school life.

Purchases: subscription for ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ (P4-P7), donation to P7 to start up their ‘Young Enterprise’ project, donation to P3 educational visit from ‘Birds of Prey’, hire of equipment (lighting for disco), ice cream van for P7 leavers, stock for monthly tuck shop
Funding activities: prizes for competitions, refreshments and resources for events (e.g. cups, napkins, milk)
