## **Objectives and Activities:** 

The objective of the Association is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by: 

- Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school 

- Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils 

Friends of West Winds aims to provide pupils the opportunity to engage in projects and programmes which will impact them positively in terms of their education. We run activities for pupils and families; we work with local community groups through the delivery of events. We want these activities and events to enhance and promote learning, and to strengthen relationships between pupils, parents, staff and the local community. 

We hold regular half termly / termly committee meetings to discuss, plan and review events.

## **Achievements and Performance:** 

Throughout the reporting period, Friends of West Winds has continued to work to support pupils’ learning and to further develop improved relationships between pupils, families, staff and the local community. 

Throughout the year, we held a range of fundraising activities for pupils, parents and families together. 

- Monthly Tuck Shop 

- Halloween activities - Pumpkin decorating contest, fancy dress disco 

- Christmas ‘Coffee and Cakes’ and selling reindeer food at school Nativity plays 

- Family quiz nights 

- Raffles - ‘Lady You Love’, ‘How many eggs in the year?’, Christmas raffles 

- Sports Day refreshments 

- Uniform shop sales 

Our activities are a fun way to raise money for school projects, events and resources; we aim to engage with as many children in the school as possible as well as running events to engage parents in school life. 

## **Financial Review:** 

The trustees have comprehensive financial procedures in place for the income and expenditure of Friend of the West Winds, with management of funds overseen via regular committee meetings. 

Opening Balance: £756.44 (bank + cash box) Closing Balance: £1321.17 (bank + cash box) 

The main items of expenditure were towards the purchase of equipment and the running of charity activities including raffles, tuck shop and school t-shirts.  The main sources of income were through fundraising activities including monthly tuck shops, raffles and seasonal pupil events e.g. Halloween school disco.  We hope to explore grant funding opportunities in the future to further sustain our group.
