Club Charities Account for the period 1/7/24 – 30/6/25.

Antrim Lions Club enjoyed another year of fundraising and charitable donations,

Our trustees remain unchanged and are Mr John McKendry, Mr Ken Watt and Mr Trevor Gardner further details which have been verified are contained within the CC (NI) portal.

During the financial year 2024 – 2025 Antrim Lions raised charitable funds in a variety of ways.

Residual funding from a charity golf event in 2024 started the year off with a total of £650.00.

A Christmas card initiative with a local school in Parkgate as well as a Lions Xmas lunch function raised a total of £1730.75 with the primary intention of funding the annual Christmas Hamper initiative.

70 x Christmas Hampers were supplied by Kearney’s Supermarket, Randalstown at a cost of £1440.00 and delivered to St Vincent De Paul at St Comgalls Church, Antrim (x30) and Sacred Heart Church, Ballyclare (x40) for distribution within their respective communities.

For the first time in many years (pre-Covid 19) Antrim Lions organised a May Ball at Dunadry Hotel which was well attended and raised a total of £12830.00. After costs of £5040.00 to the Hotel and £850.00 for the Band (50% sponsorship provided by Mr T Gardner) a total of £6940.00 was raised.

A Summer Charity Golf event was held at Kingfisher (Hilton) Templepatrick which raised a gross total of £7620.00 although this is not a final figure. Payment to the golf club for green fees etc. will show on the next annual report.

Some of our more energetic members and their families took part in the annual four peaks challenge which involves climbing the highest mountain in each of the four provinces of Ireland. Carrauntoohil at 1040m of Co. Kerry – the highest peak in the southern province of Munster, Mweelrea at 841m of Co. Mayo – the highest peak in the western province of Connacht, Slieve Donard at 840m of Co. Down – the highest mountain in Northern Ireland and the province of Ulster and Lugnaquilla 925m of Co. Wicklow – the highest peak in the eastern province of Leinster.

A very commendable total of £3105.00 was raised.

A donation of £110 was also received from Antrim Floral Art Group.

In May 2025 Antrim Lions members and their families provided two days voluntary assistance at the Shanes Castle, Antrim steam rally over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Over twenty members participated from 9-5pm on each day (Sunday / Monday) and as a result the Steam Rally organisers donated a very generous £5000.00 to the Antrim Lions Charity.

Antrim Lions have been involved in providing a talking newspaper service for a long number of years for persons in the area who are visually impaired. This service is provided in association with the North Eastern Education and Library Board and currently involves the use of CD® discs. A cost of £189.90 was necessary to replenish the CD stock. We are currently exploring another method of delivery using alternative digital technology.

A donation of £5000.00 was made to QUB Prostate Cancer Research.

A donation of £4000.00 was made to the NI Children’s Hospice.

A donation of £200 was also made to a local lady golfer following an appeal. She organised a charitable 72-hole golf event at Masserene Golf Club Antrim with proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer.

Apart from the financial totals showing in the statement of accounts submitted Antrim Lions Club have no other assets or liabilities
