Termonmaguirc Historical Society Trustee Annual Report 2023 For Termonmaguirc Historical Society Termonmaguirc HistoricaL Society has its base in The Patrician, Main Street, Carrtckmore, Co Tyrone. The Society had its meetings in 2023 on the second Wednesday of the month as is the norm. At the meetings there was always a good attendance, names and apologies recorded. Minutes of previous meetÉng and agenda for next meeting were emailed to aLL members in advance. Meetings were held in rotation around three venues the Society covers, Carrickmore, Loughmacrory and Creggan. AIL meetings were properly constituted, the Chairman read the minutes of the previous meeting, then they were proposed and seconded for adoption. The chairman then went through matters arising and the agenda. The secretarytook the minutes of proceedings. Activities During The Year A historic artefact from within Termonmaguirc, St Columcille's BeLL, És at present in Belfast Museum, itwas decided that one of the members wouLd try and have a 3D model made forthe Society. There is at present proposaLs to improve the access to ReiLig na Mban which is within the Termon Greenway. Reilig na Mban is an ancient graveyard near Carrickmore. The Society had a meetlng with a representative of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council (FODC) with a view to having the return to Termonmaguirc of some of the artefacts from the Altanagh excavations of 1979-84 Chairperson paid tribute to the passing of lan McGarrity who was a great Local historian and a dedicated member ofthe societyfor manyyears. The Society acquired the Reverend Beresford's (a former rector of Termonmaguirc) personal copy of The Book of Common Prayer. This dates from the mid 1800's, has Beresford Family Trees inside and is of great historicaL significance. The Societywas asked, through Melissa Harpur Cultural Officer FODC, if it could facilitate BBC Radio Ulster with the recording of a programme on local history and heritage in Co Tyrone. One of the Society's members, Diarmuid McGurk, gave a taLkwith slides, photos etc, on Termon House and the Beresford Family on 19/04/2023 in The Patrician, Carrickmore.
