The John and Pat Hume Derry Trust was incorporated on 24th October 2022 as a charity.

This report covers the period 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025.

## The Purposes of the Charity

The John and Pat Hume Derry Trust has been established for the education of persons in the field of peace, the understanding of peaceful activities and the achievement of conflict resolution through dialogue and mutual understanding.

In particular, it aims to ensure that the Peace Prizes awarded to John Hume and other relevant archival materials can play a role in the education for conflict resolution.

What the charity has done during the period under review to carry out its purposes - its

activities

The ownership of the Peace Prizes, archival materials and other artefacts have been transferred to this Trust from the Estate of Pat Hume

This is to ensure that they will be held in trust for the benefit of the public and cannot be used for the individual benefit of the Trustees.

The Nobel, Martin Luther King and the Mahatma Gandhi prizes were loaned to the Derry City and Strabane Council.

During the year the Loan Agreement between the Trust and the Derry City and Strabane Council was renewed.

The Prizes continue to be on loan to the Derry City and Strabane District Council, where they are on public display.

The Nobel, Martin Luther King and the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Prizes have been on permanent display in the Guildhall, Derry, since 10th December 2022.

They are freely available for viewing by the general public, in the interests of education for peace and conflict resolution.
