Governance The Meta O'Donnell Trust Fund is a charity govemed by its Trust Deed. The Trust Fund was 8et up in November 2019 and regislered as a charity with the Charities Commission of Nthem Iland under RegistratThi Number 108978. The Tfustees who served during the year were as folkM8: Miss C L Estrange Mf5 M Nolan Mr G Wilson Mrs J Maguire (Appointed YE 31103r2025) Mrs J Cunningham (Appointed YE 31/0025> Mrs P Neeson (Retired 30106r2024) Mr J Woods (Retired 31108r2024) The management of the Trust Fund is the responsibility of the Board of Trustees. None of the Trustees have any beneficial interest in the charity. Three meetings were held by the Trustees during financial year 2024125 to discuss the needs of the pupils in St Joseph's College and to prioritise those needs and plan the appropriate use of the charitable funds. Decisions were made by a resolution of a meets'ng of Trustees passed by a majonty of those present. The Trustees a responsible for maintairring acwunting records and are satisfied Ihat the financial systems in place generate hh qualty infonnation for the Trustees. Obj•thes and Public Benefft The purpose of the Trust Fund is for the education. recreation and extra-curricular activities of pupils and Students attending St Joseph's College and the adVancernnt of citizenship or community developmenL In fulfilling the public benefft requirement, the Trustees have had regard to the Charrty Commission Nl statutory public benefft guidance. The direct benefits which fi¢)w from The Trust Fund include the impffjv&X oulcomes for pupils in St Joseph's College and the increased portunitieS to access a better educatK)nal joumey. During 2024r25 the Trust Fund supported pupils through school based award8d bursary schemes for Music, PE 8fKI exwitional award8 Music: The bursary scheme continues to play a pivotal rde in supporting students, musical development. For many, the financial cost of instrumental or vocal tuition would otheThYise present a snIficant barrier. making it impossible to athieve the
standard required for GCSE prath.cal examinab"ons. Through bursary spon%yship, these students are able to access indivKJu¥l lessons that are essential for their progression. Beyond academic achievement, the scheme also fosters a deeper engagement with the musical lrfe of the College. Recipients are encouraged to contribute actNely to school events, both within the school and n the wider communty, enriching the cultural fabric of the sthool. PE." This year, several pupils were rK)minated for the preStlOUS Sports Personalty of the Year award in recognition of their oulstanding achievements in sporting disciplines in sclK)ol aThJ beyond in the communty. The award celebrales commthtent, exllen. and the 8bilty to inspire otrErs through perfonnance and character. The winner received a commern(Kabve cup and vouchers as a token of appreciation for their su(Less and dedItI)n. All nominees reiVed sweatshirts and shields in recognition of their accrynplishments. This highlghts the College's commrtment to fostering talent both bmthin and outside tt)e school environrnenl. Mets O'Donnell Cup: A speu'al award was presented to a pupil who demonstrated eXpIlOnal resilience and deteminab.on in cx)mplets'ng his education desprte facing sn[ficant adversty. During his studies, he overcame the challenges of a brain tumour diagr815 and tr8atmenL continuiry to pursue academlc eXllerte with unwavering commitinent. His achieVnent stands as an inspiring example of courage and perseverance. We are proud to note that he is now in his second year at Ulster Universty. studying Engineering-a testsment to his strength and ambition.
