Newtownhamilton & District Community First Responders
Annual Report
2022 - 2023
Report from Chairperson
Gemma Keenan reported that the year gone by had been a great year and we had kind donations from the community. Gemma outlined the success of two grants this year from NMDDC and The Community Fund. Gemma took the opportunity to thank everyone who had contributed in any way to the groups fundraising efforts.
Gemma raised the concern of the lack of support from NIAS for recruiting new people. Gemma outlined some of the activities the group carried out throughout the year.
Gemma thanked everyone for their dedication to the group and wished everyone a happy and healthy 2024.
Report from Secretary
Niall Murray reported that we received great support from the community and local schools. The group were also lucky to secure £1,500 funding from NMDDC and The Community Fund.
Niall discussed cuts on the health system and the strain it is having on the ambulance service. Niall reported that Newtownhamilton Community First Responder’s attended 50% of calls received. Niall noted a three-call increase from this time last year and our group received category 1 calls.
Niall offered his thanks to our office bearers and first responder team and offered a moment of reflection to all who passed away during the year. He also asked those in attendance to remember Dylan Vallely in their prayers.
Report from Treasurer
Ita Gibney reported that NTH CFR’s continued to enjoy support from the local community and further afield.
Ita reported that we received donations from local families, Foley PS, St Michael’s PS and Carrickrovaddy PS.
We purchased a defib cabinet for A29 and donated towards one at St Michael’s GFC. Most expenditure this year has been covered by grant income. Other significant expenditure includes public liability insurance.
