main achievements
of the branch
during the year
Chair Report
The County Fermanagh Branch had a very busy and extremely successful year in 2025
with the following notable achievements taking place during the year
Meetings: A total of 5 Branch meetings took place during the year, all meetings were
well attended by members
Royal Air Forces Association WINGS Appeal:Our Branch under the direction of the
Wings Appeal Officer, with excellent support from members, had a successful WINGS
Appeal for 2024. The total collected and submitted to Branch HQ was in the amount of
£4236.49p
WW2 War Dead Remembrance and 201 Sqn Visit: County Fermanagh Branch was
honoured in June 25 to participate in a poignant and memorable occasion as we
welcomed a distinguished Royal Air Force delegation to Irvinestown to pay tribute to the
83 Royal Air Force and Commonwealth airmen laid to rest in the town’s war graves at
both the Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic cemeteries. A wreath-laying ceremony
took place in quiet remembrance of these brave individuals whose ultimate sacrifice will
never be forgotten.
The commemorations continued with a visit to Castle Archdale, where the delegation
toured the on-site museum, home to an extensive collection of exhibits relating to No.
201 Squadron and the area’s proud wartime heritage. A highlight of the event was a
special fly-past by a P-8 Poseidon aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth marking the anniversary
of the final World War II Coastal Command Catalina flying boat sortie by No. 201
Squadron, which took place on 3 June 1945.
VE80 Beating Retreat Ceremony and Concertin St Macartin’s Cathedral : This event,
hosted by the County Fermanagh Branch was a tremendous success and was attended
by over 1000 members of the public, dignitaries and veterans as well as youth uniformed
organisation. It formed a fitting tribute to mark the 80thanniversary of Victory in
Europe—
Remembrance Parades and Church Services:The Branch as usual participated in
Remembrance Sunday parades and Church Service in Enniskillen and Irvinestown.
Wreaths were laid at both parades. It was very encouraging to see in particular the large
numbers who attended the parade in Irvinestown particularly the youth organisations
including the Air Training Corps.
WellBeing.. Over the 25 year five small Well Being events took place in the Aisling
Centre following Branch meetings, where members and beneficiaries were able to access
the range of activities available through the Aisling Centre as well as socially interact over
a cupof tea. Members also attended Christmas Dinner in earlyDecember. The highlight

of our wellbeing activities was the visit to ROC Post in Portadown and a visit to the Ulster Aviation Museum in Lisburn
