## **Purpose of the Charity** 

The Group is established to promote play based learning environments for all children in their preschool years (hereinafter referred to as the beneficiaries) of the Kilbride and Burnside area and its surrounding environs in County Antrim (hereinafter called the 'area of benefit') without distinction of age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and in particular: a) to advance the education of beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of the parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries; and b) to support the values and principles of Early Years.

## **Summary of Main Activities (furthering the Charity’s purpose for public benefit) and main achievements/targets achieved in Reporting Year** 

- The Playgroup continues to work closely with social services, and staff are involved with action plans in the Education Board. 

- The Playgroup provides facilities for a Reading Club. 

- The Playgroup had an increased focused on fundraising throughout the year. 

- The Playgroup has started to upgrade the outdoor area, and plans to buy new equipment, encouraging outdoor play. 

- The Playgroup has an increased focus now on recycling, with new income being generated within the year. 

- The Playgroup now has 4 fully trained members of staff.

We can confirm the Trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public Benefit Requirement.

The Charity did not have a deficit balance at the year end.
