Annual report for Derryboy Prlmary School PTA Charitable purpose The purpose of Derryboy PS PTA is to advance the education of the pupils of the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school. To foster more extended relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school. To engage in activities which supporl the School and advance the education of pupils attending it. The organisation undertakes fund raising activities such as fairs, fetes and raffles in order to provide educational resources and experiences for the children of the school which is in an area of rural deprivation. Through the events organised, the organisation provldes a focal point to support the local community. Benefits The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include enhanced eduGational opportunities for children from 4 years lo 11 years of age. This enables the children's curriculum experience to be enriched by means whlch would otherwise be unavailable to them, e.g. financial SLtpport for school trips. In addition, the local rural community benefits from having a focus through events to come together and ensoy mutual support. The benefits are evidenced through feedback from children and parents, observations by members of school staff and feedback from the Board of Governors of the school as well as community leaders and members. Activlties, events and achievements Through successful fundraisers such as the annual Christmas Raffle and Summer fete we were able to bring together the school and local community to raise money. This has allowed us to purchase Oxford reading schemes for Key Stage one classes and save towards further schemes for Key Stage Two. Our fundraising efforts help to pay for buses for school trips to support learning and keep costs down for families. Derryboy is a close knit school community and we are delighted to be able to purchase Secondary School ties and leavers hoodies for the P7 children moving on to their next school. As well as fundraising efforts the events produced by the PTA team have been enjoyed by all those at school and in the wider community, fostering friendships and positive community relations.
