## **Waringstown Men’s Shed - Annual Report** _1[st] April 2023 to 31[st] March 2024_ ## **Purposes** Waringstown Men's Shed was formally constituted on 2[nd] February 2022 to advance the health and wellbeing of men in the Waringstown area and to reduce social isolation by: providing a safe space for men to connect with others whilst participating in creative, physical and purposeful group and/or individual projects and activities. helping men to build relationships, to share skills and knowledge with the aim of reducing social isolation and contributing to improving men's general physical and mental health and well-being. ## **Beneficiaries** Over the period covered by this report up to twelve men of various ages living in the Waringstown area attended the Shed on a weekly or more regular basis. ## **Activities** Projects carried out included continuing repair and maintenance of the Shed building; repair of equipment and ornaments for community members; work on individual wood-work items and items for sale in fund-raising, including the turning of wooden pens; further installation of wood-working machines; maintenance of the Community Garden; construction of planters for the Community Garden and village; and contributing to the refurbishment of the “Wee house”, a feature of interest in the centre of the village. Training in the safe use of machines was carried out. A further demonstration on woodturning was well attended. These activities have contributed to the purposes set out above by providing a safe space where relationships have been built, and skills and knowledge have been shared. No harm has flowed from them. ## **Public Benefit** The trustees have given careful consideration to the Commission’s Public benefit requirement statutory guidance, and have ensured that activities have contributed to the charity’s purposes and have benefited the stated beneficiaries.
