INTEGRATED COLLEGE GLENGORMLEY PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION

TRUSTEES REPORT

For the financial year 2023-24

Integrated College Glengormley PTA is made up of a membership of both Parents, Teaching and NonTeaching staff who sign up to the PTA on a voluntary basis to work together in order to raise runds to reinvest back into the school to enhance learning opportunities and experiences for our pupil and staff. As a PTA we meet on a regular basis at Integrated College Glengormley, 134 Ballyclare Road, Glengormley, BT36 5HP.

As a charity we are governed by a constitution through our Parent Kind membership and agreed with NI Charity Commission. Each year our AGM enables us as a charity to appoint Chair Person, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer as well as appoint trustees of the PTA. Each year we welcome a number of new members as well as existing members leaving PTA due to their children no longer attending our school. Overall we had 11 members to hold the offices within the PTA, in the last financial year we continued with the same Chair Person, appointed a new Vice Chair, appointed a new Secretary, appointed a new Treasurer and appointed 7 trustees.

All members of the PTA meet regularly, all members of teaching and non teaching staff run events in school and are always accompanied by members of staff.

Members of the ICG PTA work to fundraise, run tuck shops, provide refreshments at school functions, gather items for raffle prizes.

During the last financial year we focused on fundraising activities to generate funds for a new sound system, as well as offer finances to support a Year 12 leaver celebration and offer departments an opportunity to apply for funds of up to £100 to support extra curricular clubs or trips. Our fundraising efforts involved Copper Challenge, Christmas Fair and a school based ballot, as well as tuck shops at various school events and regular tuck shops led by PTA members of staff.

At the start of the school year 2023 we ran our annual copper challenge event which raised 192.00 for Pta funds and we rewarded the form classes with the highest amount raised in their copper donations with Dominos Pizza and treats. Our first event of the year was our annual PTA Christmas Fair raised £1541.00 which proved to be a fantastic festive event for our whole school community, it allowed us to run a tuck shop, sell refreshments, run themed games and this event was generously supported by donations from our parents and staff to run a book stall, tombola, raffles which overall helped us raise a significant amount of money for the PTA. Our next main event was the PTA Big Ballot which raised £1027. This involved members of our PTA approaching local businesses to obtain donations in the form of gift vouchers, donating gifts as ballot items. We sold our ballots to pupils and staff within our school community and this allowed us to raise a substantial amount of money. Our tuck shop at our annual sports day event was a great success and allowed the PTA to generate much needed funds providing healthy drinks and snacks to pupils participating in sports day. We additionally supported a community event, inviting members of a local fold to a cuppa and craft evening as well as planning a quiz night, however this did not happen as planned during the last financial year.

In this financial year the income of the PTA was £3471.00 with an expenditure of £1033. We were able

to purchase prizes, support a range of clubs and activities to be partly supported, contribute to refreshment costs of Year 12 leaver event and contribute to a rewards event organising inflatables as an attendance reward.

In distributing funds, the Chair Person and trustees met with the Principal and Vice Principal to discuss areas of priority within the school.
