Warrenpoint Men's Shed TRUSTEES, REPORT for the financial year ended 31 December 2023 The trustees present their Truslees, Report and the unaudited financial ststements for the financial year ended 31 December 2023. Objectives and Activities Compliance with Public Benefit The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's for Northern Ireland's statutory public benefrt guidance to ensure that activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Shed's aims and objectives as well as providing public benefit. The purposes of Warrenpoint Men's Shed is to advance the health and wellbeing of men in Warrenpoint and the surrounding local areas by,. Providing a safe venue for men to talk and connect with others while participating in group andlor individual projects Providing opportunities for skills development, capacity building and learning of men in the area of benefit. Reducing isolation and increase social networks of men in the area of benefit. The main activities undertaken by the Shed are: - Woodworking and joinery workshops Community projects Programme events with guest speakers StruGture, Governance and Management Governlng Documont The principal document regarding governance of the charity is the constitution. The committee members are the Charity Trustees. The Shed is an unincorporated organisation. Organlsational Structure The committee is responsible for the day to day running of the Shed. The committee is made up of at least six volunteers elected each year at an annual general meeting. The committee stands down at the Annual General Meeting each year and a new committee is appointed in line with the constrtution. All commÉttee members and trustees are volunteers. No-one receives payment for services. Achievements and Parfomiance Premises During the year the Committee continued to buy equipment and materials for the workshop and social area and arranged for all necessary maintenance to be carried out. Six form81 committee meetings as well as numerous informal meetings were held in the premises throughout the year. Other activities Members met regularly on Monday and Thursday evenings throughout the year and on other days as necessary to attend social events, carry out training and project work. There was an increase in the activities available to members and this has resulted in a growth in membership from 18 to 28 members by the end of the year. Members attended several cross-border events with other Men's Sheds. Three members attended a wood turning course in Co Armagh on 24 June 2023. Members met in the social area of the premises
on Saturday afternoons to take part in War Game activities and 3D Printing. An open day for members of the public was held at the Shed on 10 June 2023. Talks on Communrty Health & Safety and Health issues were held in the social area of the premises during the year. Members made items of garden furnrture in the workshop throughoul the year such as Adirondack chair, folding picnic tsbleslbenches, planters and window boxes of various sizes. Repairs to garden seats were also carried out for members of the public. Financial Review During the financial year the Shed continued to raise funds via grant assistance, subscriptions, donations and the sale of goods made. The receipts and payments accounts set out on page 7 reflect the activities undertaken by the Shed in 2023, The Shed had income of £2,358.13 and expenditure of £6.578.32 resulting in a deficit for the year of £4,220.19. The Shed had unrestficted reserves at 31 December 2023 of £4,444.46 and restricted funds of £2,751.64. Warrenpolnt Men's Shed TRUSTEES, REPORT for the financial year ended 31 December 2023. Golng Concern The trustees are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that the Shed can continue its adivities and that the financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023 can be signed off as a going concem.
