## ACEF NI ## **Trustees Annual Report** _Financial Year 01/07/2023 to 30/06/2024_ **Name and address of the registered charity** : French Cultural and Educational Association NI, also known as Association Culturelle et Educative Française NI (ACEF-NI) 92 Lakelands, Craigavon, BT64 1AW For the purposes of this report, French Cultural and Educational Association NI will be referred to as ACEF. **Charity Registraton details:** Charity no. 108763 Date registered. 16/08/2022 ACEF has been active since 2019 (operating online during the pandemic) and became officially registered as a Charity in 2022. ## **Trustees as of 30/06/2024:** Mrs Yuna Commault: Chairperson Ms Allison Neill-Rabaux: treasurer Mrs Yousra Smaali Treanor: secretary Miss Elodie Bocquet: educational coordinator Mrs Eléonore Maudet: grant coordinator All trustees were unanimously elected during one of our termly meetings. ## **Actvites undertaken in 2023-24** different face-to-face and online projects and events which have been directly related to our aims and objectives as well as the public benefit of the Charity. Our board members had several meetings in full panel to discuss and plan the events and projects mentioned below: - - Saturday 1[st] of July 2023: day at Cranfield beach (12 participants) - August 2023: appointment of a new sessional tutor, Miss Audrey Delorme, who will teach children aged 7 to 10 online as well as face to face - Sunday 27[th] August 2023: French picnic in Castlewellan Forest park (20 participants) - From September 2023 to June 2024: monthly running of our Saturday school with around 30 pupils aged 3 to 10 years (nursery to P7) in Belfast; one virtual lesson per month also offered to the P5 to P7 group - Saturday 27[th] of January 2024: First Aid training with the ABC council of chairperson Yuna Commault and sessional tutor Valérie McGrail - Saturday 4[th] February 2024: French Quiz afternoon in Ballynafeigh Community Centre (50 participants) - Saturday 24[th] February 2024: French movie afternoon in Ballynafeigh Community Centre (40 participants) - Saturday 9[th] March 2024: visit of the Ulster Folk Museum (20 participants) - Sunday 4[th] April 2024: Easter egg hunt held at Oxford Island, Lurgan (30 participants) - April 2024: appointment of Ms Yousra Smaali as secretary - Saturday 15[th] of June 2024: Afternoon tea in Belfast for French-speaking ladies (25 participants) - Saturday 22[nd] June: Sports Day event in Cherryvale playfield, Belfast (30 participants) - ## **Partnerships and cooperatons:** - French government through the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) - Parapluie FLAM (a UK charity supporting French supplementary schools) - The Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council which provided First Aid training to our chairperson and one of our sessional tutors - The Polish Educational and Cultural Association: our chairperson attended several of their events, including their 15-year anniversary, and the Newry Saturday school kindly showed us their policies and regulations in place - Victoria College and Cooke Presbyterian Church, Belfast, both hosted our Saturday school - Ballynafeigh Community centre hosted our quiz and movie events - First Avenue Café, Belfast, hosted our yearly women’s afternoon tea for the second year All activities provided ACEF’s members with the opportunity to connect and socialise as well as showcasing the best of the rich French culture. ## **Public Benefts:** ## _Statement:_ Commission Public Benefit Reporting Guidance. ## _Purpose of ACEF:_ The overall mission of ACEF is to promote French language and culture, primarily, but not exclusively, among French-speaking families, in Northern Ireland. By running a monthly Saturday school, we aim for better educational outcomes for bilingual children through the development of their verbal and written communication skills in French. We also organise cultural and social events for French-speaking families to meet on a regular basis. ## The members of ACEF, the French-speaking community of NI, pre-school and primary school aged children (including those with SEN), French (speakers and/or national) females of NI, Ballynafeigh Community Centre, Victoria College and Cooke Presbyterian Church. ## _Harm:_ No harm was realised during the reporting period. ## No private benefit was realised during the reporting period with the exception of the venues we have hired for our events (namely: Victoria College and Cooke Presbyterian Church, both in Belfast). **- 2,489.62**| ## **Treasurer’s report** These are the accounts of ACEF NI covering the period from July 2023 to June 2024. Total income was £2,901.85 and total expenditure was £2,489.62. ## **Expenditure** The biggest expenses were sessional tutor fees (£814.51), room hire (£642.00) and insurance (£402.12). We used the last instalment of the FLAM grant allocated to communication. ## **Revenue** French lessons as well as events and some donations. ## **Conclusion** This year, ACEF NI had a surplus of £412.23, mainly due to a reduction in room hire compared with the previous year. There was also a reduction in expenditure on teaching materials. The cinema afternoon and quiz were a success and also contributed to the surplus. ## **Declaraton:** The Charity is governed by a constitution dated 31 January 2020. All trustees declare that they have read and approved the report above.
