Trustee’s Annual Report 2023/2024
The purpose of our charity is to continue to promote the appreciation and enjoyment of concert band music, enriching the musical and cultural experience of the general public in our locality and beyond.
The main activities and achievements in the past year have been to continue to provide experiences of live music for the public and to use opportunities for recorded band performances to reach a wider audience on our Facebook page and on YouTube. The main event of the year was a collaboration with musicians from West Michigan Concert Band from the USA and Ballinasloe Concert Band. This event was held in Ballinasloe, County Galway and was the band’s first trip away. This was a really enjoyable weekend giving us time to meet other musicians from both Galway and Michigan and to share our love of performing concert band music. It was also an opportunity to get to know members of our own band. The band raised a significant amount of the cost of the weekend through playing many events at Christmas, which is always a busy and fun time to play music.
This year we played at Bangor Christmas Lights and the Sea Bangor Festival. At Christmas we continue to support local carol services and church events in the community. Our charity concert in February raised over £1200 for the charity Eggshell Cambodia. The band has continued to attract new members and is developing the range of its repertoire. We look forward to another enjoyable year sharing our music.
