BELVOIR COMMUNITY SPORTS COMPLEX

The Trustees of Belvoir Community Sports Complex continue to meet on a monthly basis. Main items for discussion are the potential funding opportunities to develop the lands at The Boys’ Brigade’s Recreation Centre in Belvoir, South Belfast, engagement with local community representatives, elected representatives and those from sports governing bodies.
To-date, funding opportunities have been limited and the Trustees continue to await the roll-out of the sub-Regional Soccer Fund. Regrettably, the lack of a functioning devolved Executive at Stormont has delayed any progress of this fund.
Planning permission for this development was secured in July 2020 and we continue to seek alternative funding opportunities that will bring about the development as planned even on a phased basis.
At time of reporting, there are indications that a solution may be forthcoming that will see the restoration of the Executive.
We are still determined to see the development come to fruition that we believe will create a Centre of Sporting Excellence in this part of South Belfast.
