Saint Macartans PS PTA

- Summary Report (2022 2023)

St Macartans Primary School PTA is made up of a membership of both Parents and Teachers who give of their time on a voluntary basis and work collectively to raise funds to enable the school to purchase much needed equipment and resources. These resources are implemented to benefit each pupil within the school. The Charity meets in the school premises at St Macartans Primary School, 4 Ballagh Road, Clogher, BT760HE.

The Charity is governed by their Constitution (agreed with Charity Commission NI) and all members of Committee are appointed during the Annual AGM. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is conducted, and minutes are available.

The Committee is made up of Parents and Teachers some of whom also act as Trustees for the Charity. School PTA has a two-fold approach to the work in helping the school. Members serve on this core Committee and others commit to helping at the Fundraisers and PTA events by helping organise, serving refreshments, providing supervision, or sending in baked goods or items as raffle prizes.

Fundraising activities in 2022 included the “Easy Fundraising” account for online shopping, a Marathon Relay hosted by a company called Fitter Younger and a Movie Night for all ages hosted in the school. Expenses for the year included Parent Kind Membership, AB Coaching, a company who came into the school weekly to do additional sports activities with the children and payment to Fitter Younger for the Marathon Relay.

Fundraising activities in 2023 included once again Easy Fundraising and a successful DEARA Grant application which supported the purchase of IPADs for the School. Expenses additional to the IPADS included Parent Kind Membership and an error in the Amazon account used for the PTA which was subsequently refunded in 2024.

Two table quizzes were also hosted by the Perfect Pint in Fivemiletown to raise money for the purchase of a Defibrillator at the school with raffle prizes donated by PTA parents on 14[th] September and 26[th] October 2023. This event generated a cash value of £1350 donated to the school who purchased a Defibrillator in December 2023 with roll out of staff training in January 2024.

Over the last two years it was decided to continue with the reduced number of fundraising activities and focus on social events to welcome new families to the school community. Proposed plans for 2024 included a uniform exchange for school families, colour run with BBQ, Christmas jumper exchange and Summer treasure Hunt.

In distributing funds, the Trustees and Committee meet with the Principal, Vice Principal and discuss areas where the need is greatest to support any identified needs of the school.

The following will serve as Trustees from 2024 and an update to the Charity Commission is planned to add new trustees and to remove previous committee members. Trustees will be named as:-

Mrs Alisha McGuinness,

Mrs Alicia McCoole,

Mrs Mairead McCaughey,

Mrs Fiona McGlone,

Mrs Martina McGarry
