Description Of Charitable Purposes
To promote community arts and crafts and provide community arts and craft classes, education and activities that are accessible to everyone, irrespective of ability, gender, sex, age, background, belief, or any other characteristic and promote positive mental health and social well being.
Main Achievements of the Year
Like many charitable organisations Lily’s Craft Attic has seen a number of challenges post Covid 19 pandemic in the financial year 1 October 2022 to September 2023 with a small increase in income.
This was largely due to the increased anxiety of the general populus to begin face to face arts and craft activities again. Indeed many of our usual workshop participants are carers for vulnerable family members and they were not confident in returning to group activities in 2022-2023.
In light of reduced numbers wishing to partake in face to face workshops in house at Lily’s Craft Attic during 2022-2023 the trustees actively changed direction and sought to engage with other external organisations to secure different revenue streams to cover the fixed expenditure.
We were successful in securing a number of collaborations with other community groups and secured external income from the following streams.
Xmas events accounted for 64% Community Cohesion Event 18% Vintage Craft Demonstration 18%
In July 2023 our IT advisor and 3d printing specialist Chris Turkington kindly sourced and loaned us a second hand vending machine for the benefit of Lily’s Craft Attic. This very generous donation will allow for another revenue stream for the charity as refreshments are always a welcome addition to the workshops.
All profits from the vending machine refreshments sales are to be given to Lily’s Craft Attic for the foreseeable future.
Future Activities
We hope to offer a more diverse range of arts / craft activities through October 2023 to September 2024.
The trustees are in negotiations with a number of new groups to enhance the current activities offered by Lily’s Craft Attic.
These activities will include the possibility of running the following new artistic disciplines:-

Creative writing workshops

Outreach to 3[rd] party community groups with tailored art individual projects

Public Benefit Statutory Statement
i.The advancement of education of the public in arts, craft and sustainability. This is evidenced in the upskilling of participants through workshop activities and the shared knowledge transfer of forgotten skills by facilitating intergenerational learning on a diverse range of topics.
ii.Improving the social physical and mental well being of members of the ABC council area through shared experiences and enhanced social interaction.
This is evidenced by attendance numbers at workshop, demonstrations and events, by volunteer and trustee commitment to projects and by written participant feedback from our social media channels and feedback
We cannot perceive any harm being derived from our activities. All of our activities are risk assessed and reports prepared.
We have robust procedures and policies in place to outline the safe and effective running of our organisation including AccessNI checks of volunteers and safeguarding policies.
Volunteers will be appropriately AccessNI checked when working with vulnerable groups
the general public in the geographic region of Armagh Banbridge Craigavon Council and anyone interested in arts and crafts.
Volunteers, tutors or trustees may received benefit of increased educational / skills and training through their participation in group activities and these skills may be transferable to other work or social settings but none of our activities are for private benefit.
End of Year Financial Review

This was largely due to the increased anxiety of the general populus to begin face to face arts and craft activities again. Indeed many of our usual workshop participants are carers for vulnerable family members and they were not confident in returning to group activities in 2022-2023.
Lily’s Craft Attic has a number of fixed costs and it was the trustees main challenge to cover these costs during 2022-2023 and not to erode the previous years gains.
Fixed costs were apportioned in % as the following figures:Alarm maintenance 21% Water / Rates 20% Insurance 11.5% Electricity 47.5%
Income generating sources / donations were apportioned as follows: External events 43% Workshops 44% Sales of finished items 9% Other Donations 4%
The financial data for the charitable accounts of Lily's Craft Attic were populated by our treasurer Mrs Evelyn Kerr and validated by trustee Ms Thelma Turkington.
The accounts were then subsequently submitted for preparation and independent examination to:-
