The trustees present the annual report and financial statements forThe Rotary Club of Lurgan Charitable Trust for the
year ended 30 June 2024.
The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) 'Accounting and Reporting
by Charities" IFRS 102) in preparin8 the annual report and financial statements of the charity.
The financial statements have been prepared on a "Recelpts and Payments" basis in accordance with the accounting
policies set out in the notes to the flnancial statements and applicable accounting standards, Accounting and Reportlng by
Charities." Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparin8 their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reportin8 Standard applicable in the UK and Republlc of Ireland i55ued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021. the charity's governing document, the
Charities Act INorthern Ireland) 2008, Charitie5 Act (Northern Ireland) 2013, The Charities (Accounts and Reports)
Re8vlation5 {Northern Ireland) 2015 and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.

The Charlty's objerts are to promote the followin8 purposes for the public benefit:
The advancement of community development by the provlslon of recreatlonal facilities and services for those
citizens in the Armagh Banbrid8e & Craigavon Council area who are in need by reason of 38e,111 health, disablllty,
financial hardship or other disadvanta8e.
The dlrect benefits which flow from the organlsation's purposes Include the provision of funds for other charitable and
community organisations leading to the allevlation of financial hardship and the improvement of condltlons and well-beln8
and family life of children, teenageis and adults In the Armagh 8anbrld8e & Craigavon Council area which In
turn promotes the development, education and experience5 of young people.
Further benefits include Increased skills and knowledge, vocational opportunity and employment opportunity whlch In
turn promotes personal development, educatlon and experiences. Beneflts are evldenced throu8h feedback from
beneflciaries, other charities and stakeholders that the trust engages wlth Including through short briefingslpresentations
outllnlng experiences and outcomes for the trustees. This purpose does not give rise to any harm.
The charSty's beneficiaries are citlzens In the Arma8h Banbrldge & Craigavon Council area who are in need by rea50n of
a8e, ill health, dlsability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. A private benefit to the trustees may arise from ongoing
programmes of training and 8ood 8overnance and finance mana8ement. Through these progiammes. trustees may gain
skills and experlence whlch are tran5ferrable to other settings, These skills are Incldental and necessary to ensure the
beneflt Is provlded to the right beneficiarles.
Publlc beneflt statement
The trustees of The Rotary Club of Lurgan Charltable Trust conflrm that they have had due regard for the guidance on
Publlc Beneflt by the Charlty Commlsslon for Northern Ireland and are pleased to report that durln8 the year the charitv
has contlnued to provide Public Beneflts throu8h actlvitles we offer. In partlcular, the trustees tonsider how planned
activities wlll contribute to the aims and objectives they have set out, as well as providin8 publlc beneflt.
Purpose
The trust was set up for the benefit of those cltlzens in the Arma8h Banbrid8e & CralEavon Council area who are in need
by reason of age. ill health. disablllty, flnancial hardshlp or other disadvantage. The trust is connected to the Lur8an branch
of Rotary International, the world's largest voluntary service organisation wlth more than 1.2 mlllion rnernbers In over 200
countrles.
Rotary Club members are volunteers. male and female and, from all walk5 of Ilfe, who work to benefit the local and
international communlty. In doin8 50, members make a positive dlfference to the lives of others. Their work includes ralsln8
fund5 in support of worthy causes. Rotary, however. is not all about fundraising and theie 15 0150 a very important social
element to It. Membership of a Rotary Club provides an opportunity to meet others and develop friendships.
The trust accepts donations and 8rants from the Lurgan branch of Rotary International and other donors speclfically to
help beneficiarles In the Armagh Banbridge & Craigavon Council area. It makes grants and donation5, helps other
charitieslgroups locally. The trust raises funds for specific projects In the Borough.
Achlevements
The Trust has SUPPOrted a number of charities during the year.
It Is our short to mediuffl term intention to disperse our monies in accordance with our Inltlal aim5 and are constantly
seeking out those individuals and groups who would benefit.

The charity Is a charitable trust constituted under a trust deed dated 25 June 2018, which is recognised as a charity wlth
The Charlty Commission for Northern Ireland.
R•¢rultment, appointment, Inductlon and tralnln
The trustees as charlty trustees have control of the Charlty and Its property and Funds. No one may be appolnted as a
trustee under the a8e of el8hteen,' or dlsqualified under the applicable Charities le8islation from acting as a tharity trustee
or trustee for a charity; or not a member of The Rotary Club of Lurgan. A trustee may not appolnt an alternate trustee or
anyone to act on his or her behalf at meetln8s of the trustees. The 8oaid shall consist of a mlnlmum of three trustees.
Every trustÈe shall be appolnted for a perlod of 5 years from the date of the Trust Deed. Each trustee shall be ellgible for
reappointment for a maximum of two further terms of five years. For the avoldance of doubt, election and re-electlon of
trustees shall be overseen by the President for the time beln8 of The Rotary Club of Lurgan.
Every trustee rnust execute a deed of appointment to act as a trustee of the charlty before he or she is ellgible to vote at
any meetlng of the trustees.
The trustees shall appoint from their number a Chairman, at the flrst meeting and such Chairman shall hold office for a
perlod of three years. On retirement the Chairman shall be ellglble for re.election from year to year and any vacancy
occurrln8 during the year for whatever reason shall be fllled by the trustee5 a5 the occasion arlses by a majorlty vote.
In selectln8 Indlviduals for appolntrnent as trustees, the trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience
needed for the effective administratlon of the charlty.
The tru5tee5 must make available to each new trustee on hls or her appolntment: a copy of the Trust Deed and any
amendments rnade to It; and a copy of the tharitws latest report and statement of accounts.
Any casual vacancies occurrln8 amongst the trustee5 shall be filled by the Board and the replacement trustees shall hold
otrice for the remalnder of the perlod for which the persons replaced would have held office.
Trustees Should be appointed for a period of five years and be ell8ible for re-election. Electlon of trustees to be overseen
by the Club President. Trustees can only hold office as lon8 as Islhe Is a member of The Rotary Club of Lurgan.

Powers of the trustee5
The tru5tee5 manage the business of the charlty and may exercise all the powers of the charity unless they are subject to
any restriction as imposed by the applltable charltle5' le8islation.
Any meetings of trustees at whlch a quorum is present at the tlme the ielevant dec151on is made may exercise all the
powers exercisable by the trustees.
The trustees may delegate any of their powers or functlons to a committee con5iStin8 of not fewer than three trustees
appolnted by them.

The trustees must hold at least two meetlngs each year. A quorum at a meeting of the trusteesls two trustees. A meetln8
of the trustees may be held either In person or by suitable electronlc mean5 a8reed by the trustees in which all participants
may communicate wlth all the other partlclpants.
The date, time and locatlon ofthe next trustee meeting is agreed by the trustees at the meetln8 unle55 such arrangements
have already been made. Meetings may also be called at any tlme by the Chairman or by any two trustees. In that case.
not les5 than ten calendar days, notlce must be given to the other trustees unless all of the trustees a8ree to call a meetlng
at shorter notice. The Chairman or Ilf the Chaliman is unable or unwlllin8 to do sol some other trustee chosen by them
presldes at each meeting ofthe trustees.
Except where otherwise provlded in the Trust Deed, every issue may be determined by a simple majority of the votes cast
at a meetin8 of the trustees but a resolution whlch Is In writin8 and signed by all the trustees Is as valid as a resolutlon
passed at a meeting. For thls purpose the resolution may be contained in more than one document and wlll be treated as
passed on the date ol the last slgnature. Except for the Chairman, who has a castinB Vote, every trustee ha5 one vote on
each matter.

The charlty's tru5tee5 are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statements In accordance
with applicable law and Vnlted Kingdom Accountin8 Standard5 Iunlted Klngdom Generally Accepted Accountlng Practlte).
The law appllcable to charlties In Northern Ireland requlres the trustees to prepare flnancial 5tatement5 for each flnantial
vear which give a true and fair vlew of the state of affairs of the charlty and of the incomln8 re5ource5 and appllcation of
resources of the charlty for that perlod.
In preparln8 these fSnanclal statements, the trustees are requlred to:
select sultable acrountlng policies and then apply them consistently;
observe the method5 and principles in the Charltles SORP 2019 {FRS102);
makeJud8ements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent,.
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures dlsclosed
and explained in the financSal statements;
prepare the financial statements on the 80in8 concern ba515 unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity
wlll continue in operation.
