The trustees present the annual report and financlal statements for The Rotary Club of Lur8an Charltable Trust for the
year ended 30 June 2023.
The trustees have adopted the provlsions of the Statement of Recommended Practice {SORPI 'Accounting and Reporting
by Charlties" (FRS 1021 In preparlng the annual report and financial statements of the charity.
The financial statements have been prepared on a "Recelpts and Payments. basis in accordance with the accountlng
policies set out in the notes to the flnanclal statements and appllcable accountlng standards, Accountin8 and Reportln8 by
Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charitles preparlng thelr accounts In accordance with the

Objectlves and Actlvttles
The Charit￿$ objects are to promote the following purposes for the public benefit:
The advancement of communlty development by the provision of recreatlonal facllltles and servlces for those
citizens in the Armagh Banbrid8e & Craigavon Council area who are in need by reason of a8e. ill health, disabillty,
flnanclal hardshlp or other disadvantage.
The direct benefits which flow from the organisation's purposes include the provision of funds for other charStable and
communlty organisations leading to the alleviatlon of flnanclal hardship and the Improvement of condltions and well-bein
and family life of children, teenagers and adults in the Armagh Banbridge & Ciaigavon Council area which in
turn prornotes the development, education and experiences ofyoung people.
Further benefits include increased skills and knowled8e, vocatlonal opportunity and employment opportunlty whlch In
turn promotes personal development, education and experiences. Benefits are evidenced throu8h feedback from
beneficlarles, other Charltles and stakeholders that the trust enga8es with includin8 through short briefings/pre5entatlons
outllnln8 experlences and outcomes for the trustees. This purpose does not give rise to any harm.
The charlty's beneflciarles are citizens in the Armagh Banbridge & Craigavon Council area who are in need by reason of
age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. A private benefit to the trustees may arlse from ongoin8
programmes of trainin8 and good 8overnance and finance management. Through these pro8rammes, trustees may galn
5ki11s and experlence whlch are transferrable to other settings. These skills are incidental and necessary to ensure the
benefit is provided to the right beneflclarles.
Publlc b•n•fft stat•ment
The trustees of The Rotary Club of Lur8an Charltable Trust confirm that they have had due re8ard for the guidance on
Publlc Beneflt by the CharSty Commission for Northern Ireland and are pleased to report that durln8 the year the charlty
has continued to provide Public Benefits through actlvities we offer. In partlcular, the trustees conslder how planned
activities will contribute to the aims and objectives they have Set out, as well as provldln8 publlc beneflt.
Purpose
The trust was set up for the benefit of those clllzens In the Arma8h Banbridge & Craigavon Covncil area who are In need
by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardshlp or other dlsadvantage. The trust is connected to the Lurgan branch
of Rotary International, the world's lar8est voluntary service organlsatlon wlth more than 1.2 mllllon members in over 2(YJ
countries.
Rotary Club members are volunteers, male and female and. from all walks of life. who work to benefit the local and
International communlty. In doing so, members make a positive difference to the lives of others. Their work Includes raising
funds In support of worthy causes. Rotary, however. is not all about fundraisin8 and there is also a very important social
element to it. Membership of a Rotary Club provides an opportunlty to meet others and develop frlendships.
The trust accepts donations and grants from the Lurgan branch of Rotary international and other donor5 speclfically to
help beneficiaries in the Armagh Banbridge & Craigavon Council area. It makes grants and donation5, helps other
charities/groups locally. The trust raises funds for speclflc projects in the Borough. The Trust has supported a number of
charltles Includln8 the St Vlncent de Paul Society and Salvation Army Covid-19 crisis funds. The trust has purchased outdoor
mu5i(al Instruments for the 5en50ry garden in Ceara Special Needs School.
Achlevements
The Trust has supported a number of charities. We have made donations to the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul
food bank appeal as well as to others induding Knitted Knockers based at Brownlow House, Lur8an. In conjunction with
ABC councll we worked wlth them to provide tree whips for public benefit at Silverwood and we also supported Ceara
speclal needs school In Lurgan.
