Welcome
• On behalf of the Executive Committee of NICC, I would like to welcome
each and every one of you for taking the time to attend our 2023-2024
AGM. Special thanks to those brothers and sisters who have travelled from outside Newtownards to be with us today.
Minutes of last AGM
• Chairman’s Report
As the Chairman of (NICC) I am pleased to present our Annual General meeting report for years 2023-2024. Looking back on 2023-2024and reflecting on all the developmental activities including a series of meetings and
networking, NICC has increased their profile level significantly.
I am determined to ensure that myself and the Management Committee
continue to make extremely positive contributions to meeting the needs of our community including education, personal development, Islamic Culture,
Integration and organizational development. Particularly working towards
securing premises for NICC that are safe and clean.
Acknowledgements
I would like to thank my fellow members of the Management Committee and our Trustees.
for their untiring support throughout the year.
Abdul Kayum for their continuous commitment to arranging activities and support.
Abdul Shohid for all the financial record keeping and unwavering support in arranging financial activities specially the charity events during Ramadan.
Br Reza Khan for his administrative support with funding and activities.
All other brothers and sisters and donors who have come forward in support of our NICC throughout the years.
A special acknowledgement to our elders who are no longer with us (may Allah grant them Jannat) who had the foresight to establish this Muslim Community Centre for the future generations.
Activities
Internal Activities
- The NICC organises Islamic Cultural awareness programmers, Arabic
classes, and English classes. We organise and assist in organising workshops, meetings, exhibitions, events and activities consistent with
NICC’s objectives.
New Projects undertaken –
- We endeavour to provide annual Islamic Cultural event that brings
together the intergeneration Muslim with the wider community.
Future plans
The Management Committee, volunteers and community are extremely commendable and are strength to the Muslim community here in NI. However,
we need to source and secure funding, increase volunteer capacity to achieve our Strategic Goals and secure future stability.
The upcoming year will present challenges for us with funding opportunities,
especially with the restrictions due to staffing and funding. However, I am confident in the commitment of the Management Committee, volunteers and
community contribution to continue to provide a place for activities and support for our community.
Many of our community are marginalised due to language barrier, stereo
typing and racism. As this is an inter-generational project it will help to
engender confidence and self-esteem across all ages as the wider community
will be involved, it will help to build community relationships whilst maintaining cultural heritage.
The continued development of NICC will encourage volunteer capacity building in a charitable organisation and skill development
including computer literacy, project co-ordination and administrative skills.
Concluding remarks
In conclusion, I would like to acknowledge members of the Management. Committee for all their hard work, commitment and dedication over the past years to make NICC a valuable community resource. I would like to thank the wider community for their ongoing support of the project. I would like to thank all of those who have contributed to NICC, I must say that without their
financial and voluntary support we would not be able to continue the work and services.
