## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024**
The trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2024.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in Note 1 of the accounts and comply with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016).
The objects of the charity include:
1. To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Seskinore and district area and its environs without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious, or other opinion, by associating with statutory authorities, voluntary organisations, and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education.
2. To provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
3. To encourage regeneration/investment opportunities to ensure the continued growth of our vibrant rural community.
4. Organise or assist in organising meetings, lectures, classes, and exhibitions and publish, or assist in publishing reports, periodicals, recordings, books or documentation or information.
5. Obtain, collect, and receive money by way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies, or other lawful methods.
## **Financial review**
The charity returned net income for the year of £5,560 (2023 - £1,456).
On 31 March 2024, the total funds of the charity amounted to £13,000 (2023 - £7,440).
Of the total funds reported above, £7,608 is made up of cash at bank.
## **Reserves policy**
The trustees endeavour to maintain sufficient funds to ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the charity’s current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised.
## **Risk management**
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.

## **Structure, governance, and management**
Seskinore Rural Community Group registered as a charity on 7 April 2022 and is governed by its Constitution.
The trustees who served during the year were:
Mr Robert Riddell Mr Hugh McAleer Mr Ivor Russell Mrs Lila Russell Mrs Colette McCabe Mr William Howard Sir Robert Salisbury Mr Roy McCracken Mr Mark McLaughlin Mr BJ Toal
The trustees were assisted during the year in carrying out the Group’s activities by Dervla Devlin, Laura Fitzpatrick, Sharon Pearson, Glenda Armstrong, Jonny Clements, Sam Dennison and Seamus McAlinney.
## **Summary of activities during the year**
1. Met with Fermanagh & Omagh District Councillors & Officers and with Forest Service personnel with a view to having Seskinore Forest upgraded.
2. Worked with Forest Service in relation to the converting of the waste ground opposite the Church of Ireland into an enclosed car park.
3. Carried out minor improvements to the Forest facilities.
4. Consulted with DFI personnel and other relevant parties regarding the proposed extension of the village footpath to the Forest.
5. Obtained planning permission for the village centre piece at Carnalea/Corkhill Road junction.
6. Organised and managed local community litter picks in September & April.
7. Organised our second 5K Fun Run & Walk in Seskinore Forest in May 2023.
8. Hosted well-attended local historical & biodiversity talks in October & December.
9. Further enhanced the Christmas lights display in the village.
10. Upgraded the village defibrillator and the flower boxes in the village.
11. Produced digital recordings of interviews with local senior residents.
12. Consulted with other local community groups in areas of common interest.

## **Independent examiner’s report to the charity trustees of Seskinore Rural Community Group (Charity no. 108476)**
I report on the accounts of Seskinore Rural Community Group for the year ended 31 March 2024.
## **Respective responsibilities of charity trustees and examiner**
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
It is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act;
- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Commission under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act;
- state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner’s report**
I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act.
My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters.
My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to believe:
1. That accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 63 of the Charities Act; 2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records;
3. That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act;
4. That there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
I have completed my examination and have no concerns in respect of the matters (1) to (4) listed above and, in connection with following the Directions of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, I have found no matters that require drawing to your attention.
