The Trustees present the Annual Report, Receipts and Payments Accounts, and Statement of and Assets and Liabilities for Glengormley Baptist Church for the year ended 31 December 2023.

The legal name of the charity is Glengormley Baptist Church.
The Charity's area of operation and UK Charitable registration
The charity is registered in Northern Ireland with the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland (CCNI) with charity number NIC108287.
Structure, Governance and Management
Governing Document and Constitution of the Charity
The charity is constituted as an unincorporated charity, established by a written constitution approved by the members, and endorsed by the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland (CCNI). There are no restrictions in the governing documents on the operation of the Charity or on its investment powers other than those imposed by Charity Law.
The methods used to recruit and appoint new Charity Trustees
In accordance with the Church constitution, the membership actively promotes and elects a Board of Trustees from its membership which includes a range of skills, experience, and knowledge in keeping with the pursuance of its Objects.

Payments to Trustees
No Trustees received payment for undertaking trustee duties. Payments to the Pastor relate to expenses incurred in the performance of the duties of Pastor. Where Trustees purchase items on behalf of the charity, these costs may be reimbursed.

Objectives and Activities
The purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document

The Church acknowledges the headship of Jesus Christ over his Church and exists to glorify the triune God by maintaining and promoting his worship both individually and corporately.

Its members devote themselves to the teachings of the Scripture, to fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer, and evangelism.
-
They commit, with the help of God, to witness to the saving and sustaining power of the Lord Jesus Christ and to work for the extension of His Kingdom.

The principal charitable object of the church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the teachings of the Scripture, the Doctrinal Statement and Baptist principles.
The main activities undertaken in relation to those purposes during the year

Holding regular services for public worship, prayer, Bible study, preaching and teaching for all age groups, and providing pastoral care to the members and attendees of the church through visitation and prayer.

Organising meetings and events that promote our charitable purpose.

Providing Pastoral Care for members of our community who have suffered bereavement, illness, or family stress.

Participating in the life of the local community.

Supporting other Christian organisations and charities through volunteering, financial gifts, and prayer.

Facilitating mandatory and non-mandatory training for leaders and volunteers for the various organisations eg safeguarding, food hygiene and first aid.
The main activities undertaken during the year to further the charity's purpose for the public benefit
All activities are underpinned by our safeguarding policy and include:

Adults - We aim to offer opportunities for discipleship to equip people to grow into devoted followers of Jesus:

Various Groups and activities for men & women - Throughout the year we offer a variety of meetings which enable individuals to explore church life, the meaning of faith and to encounter the God of the bible. These have included small group session for marriage guidance, women’s meetings, men’s breakfasts, Café church and other social events such as coffee mornings and church BBQ’s. Regular activities are also held to enable older members of our community to gather to socialise and fellowship together.

Youth - We seek to provide various activities to help young people encounter the big God of the Bible while providing opportunities to engage with them in dealing with issues they are confronting and drawing from our own life experience.

We support youth development in offering the opportunity to volunteer as supervised helpers in children’s work and in practical service within wider church life as a means of leadership training.

The church actively encourages and provides practical and prayerful support for young people participating as team members and leaders in weekends and summer camps organised by organisations aligned with the charitable purposes of Glengormley Baptist for promotion of the gospel and the benefit of children and young people attending the camps.

Children - There are a range of activities for children aged 0 - 11 years including our crèche, children’s meeting and youth clubs.

Community - We are engaged in a variety of activities to help live out God’s love in our community: - Café Church – provides an opportunity for members of the community to explore topical issues regarding faith, wellbeing and dealing with the normal pressures of life in an informal and engaging environment.

Church BBQ’s are open to the wider community in which the church serves, with particular focus on engaging parents and families of children that attend youth and kids activities within the church in understanding the part that Glengormley Baptist church seeks to play in the nurturing of their families.

Keenagers – provides an opportunity for senior members of the church and our community to meet for fellowship, teaching and light refreshments.

Facilitating marriages and funerals.
The main achievements and performance of the charity during the year
The Church continued to hold regular services for public worship, organised events that promoted fellowship amongst the members and attendees of the church and provided outreach opportunities with the wider community (as detailed above).
The difference the charity's performance during the year has made to the beneficiaries of the charity and to wider society
The Church continued to provide benefit to its members, attendees and the public by making known the Christian gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ through the advancement of the Christian faith. This in turn has provided opportunity to promote Christian moral, social, family and spiritual values which encourages community and personal wellbeing with the faith, hope and love to be found in the gospel of God.
Financial review
The church is funded by voluntary gifts and donations, we make use of both the Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme. The church does not seek funds from other sources.
The results for the period are set out in detail on pages 7 to 9. The charity returned net payments of £17,351 (2022 – net receipts of £11,330) in the year.
At 31 December 2023, the charity had cash funds of £56,715 (2022 - £74,066) including designated funds of £922 (2022 - £1,226).
The Church uses Restricted and Unrestricted Funds in its accounting policies. Restricted Funds are used for money donated to the Church for specific purposes such as Missions, Youth Ministries etc. Unrestricted Funds from general offerings are used for all other purposes. Any shortfalls in the Restricted Funds are made up by transfers from the Unrestricted Fund.

3. TRANSACTIONS WITH THE TRUSTEES
In accordance with the Constitution of the Church the Pastors also act as trustees. During the year 1 trustee (2022 - 1) was reimbursed expenses totalling £72 (2022 - £62). No remuneration was paid in respect of services as trustee.
