## **The purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document**

- The Church acknowledges the headship of Jesus Christ over his Church and exists to glorify the triune God by maintaining and promoting his worship both individually and corporately.

- Its members devote themselves to the teachings of the Scripture, to fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer, and evangelism.

- They commit, with the help of God, to witness to the saving and sustaining power of the Lord Jesus Christ and to work for the extension of His Kingdom.

- The principal charitable object of the church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the teachings of the Scripture, the Doctrinal Statement and Baptist principles.

## **The main activities undertaken during the year to further the charity's purpose for the public benefit**

All activities are underpinned by our safeguarding policy and include:

- Adults - We aim to offer opportunities for discipleship to equip people to grow into devoted followers of Jesus:

   - Various Groups and activities for men & women - Throughout the year we offer a variety of meetings which enable individuals to explore church life, the meaning of faith and to encounter the God of the bible. These have included small group session for marriage guidance, women’s meetings, men’s breakfasts, Café church and other social events such as coffee mornings and church BBQ’s.

- Youth - We seek to provide various activities to help young people encounter the big God of the Bible while providing opportunities to engage with them in dealing with issues they are confronting and drawing from our own life experience.

   - We support youth development in offering the opportunity to volunteer as supervised helpers in children’s work and in practical service within wider church life as a means of leadership training.

   - The church actively encourages and provides practical and prayerful support for young people participating as team members and leaders in weekends and summer camps organised by organisations aligned with the charitable purposes of Glengormley Baptist for promotion of the gospel and the benefit of children and young people attending the camps.

## **Reserves Policy**

A policy on reserves has been reviewed and agreed by the Trustees. The income of the church is stable, and the risk of a sudden significant reduction of income is regarded as unlikely. In the event of an unexpected financial need the Trustees are confident that members would respond accordingly. The Trustees are satisfied that a figure equating to approximately four months' expenditure is an appropriate level of reserve balances at the present time. Cash balance at year end exceeded the level of reserves required. These reserves will be kept in the unrestricted funds going forward, but if the need arises can be transferred to restricted funds to cover any shortfalls or unforeseen needs.
