Trustees’ Annual Report for the Year Ended 31 December 2023
The Trustees present the Annual Report, including the Receipts and Payments account and Statement of Assets and Liabilities, of Magherafelt Baptist Church for the year ended 31 December 2023.
The charity is registered in Northern Ireland with the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland (CCNI) with charity number NIC108226.
Structure, Governance and Management
Governing Document and Constitution of the Charity
The Church is an unincorporated entity operating under the Constitution for Magherafelt Baptist Church.
Recruitment and Appointment
New trustees are appointed at the Annual Meeting of the Church every year and serve in the case of Deacons for 3 years and Elders for 5 years after which they may be proposed for re-appointment.

Trustees meet on at least 3 occasions during the year.
Payments to Trustees
None of the trustees have any beneficial interest in the Church or received payment for undertaking trustee duties.
Management
Responsibility for the day to day running of the charity is delegated to the key management personnel as listed below: David Henry; Mark Palmer; Richard Macdonald; John Fulton; Jonathan Orr; Robert Jennings.
Objectives and Activities
The Church acknowledges the headship of Jesus Christ over his Church and exists to glorify the triune God by maintaining and promoting his worship both individually and corporately.
Its members devote themselves to the teachings of Scripture, to fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer and evangelism. They commit, with the help of God, to witness to the saving and sustaining power of the Lord Jesus Christ and to work for the extension of His Kingdom.
The principal charitable objective of the church is the advancement of the Christian faith according to the teachings of Scripture, the Doctrinal Statement and Baptist principles.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the Church should undertake.

In lerms of community involvement. it has been a privilege to facilitate the work of Gold Surestart which reaches out to young families. Financial review The church is funded by voluntary gifts and donations, we make use of both the Gift Aid and Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme. The results for the period are set out in detail on pages 5 to 7. The charity returned net receipis of £1,126 {2022- £73,843) in the year. At 31 December 2023, the charity had cash funds of £99.314 {2022- £98,188). The Church uses Restricted and Unrestricted Funds in its accounting policies. Restricted Funds are used for money donated to the Church for specific purposes such as Missions etc. Unrestricted Funds from general offerings are used for all other purposes. Any shorifalls in the Restricted Funds are made up by transfers from the Unrestricted Fund.
