Report of the Trustees
For the period 1[St] January 2023 to 31[st] December 2023
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the period 1[st] January 2022 to 31[st] December 2022. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FSR 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITES
Centre 61 ministries desire is to build up, encourage and nurture people who profess a Faith in Jesus Christ and to see people come to faith in Jesus outside of the church community. The charity aims to provide a place where there is regular biblical teaching, worship and support for our members and children.
The charity aims to work locally will all sections of the community to provide support and care to those in need therefore demonstrating the love of God.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
2023 began in our newly rented building Glenada, where the Sunday worship services became well established as the year progressed. It provided a much-welcomed feeling of space for these larger gathering of our members. The children’s ministry benefited greatly to having a dedicated spacious area to work in. These services continued weekly with new people being added to the number attending.
The Centre on Causeway Road continued to be the location for Tuesday night Tabernacle gatherings and Thursday morning prayer meetings. The development of the inner healing ministry led to a room in the centre being transformed into a dedicated space called the restoration room. Inner healing teaching along with individual sessions has proven to be of substantial help to those of our members and others in community, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
In May the large marque was erected on the Northfield site in preparation for summer events. In May, a special Pentecost night arranged though the Nua team was held in the Tent. Over 700 people from different churches in Northern Ireland gathered to worship, turning into a most wonderful night of fellowship.
Nua festival was held at Northfield again this year at the end of June with many of our members attending and volunteering. This was a weekend of fun, worship, laughter, relationship building and forming for everyone. People left refreshed and spiritually nourished after all the wonderful biblical teaching throughout the weekend.
A ministry to encourage women was began in 2023. This included a series of nights where ladies of the church and the local community were invited to take part in a walk followed by light refreshments and a short talk on how God had personally touched people’s lives.
The normal routine of services differed during the summer months to Sunday evening encounter nights at the Northfield site. These were well attended and even opened the opportunity to worship with people from other Churches.
We held a special BBQ in July to say farewell to the Morrow family who were relocating to USA. They had served the church body faithfully through Simon leading worship and Sarai’s teaching of the word. We are so very grateful for the time they spent with us as part of our church family.
The New Life conference occurred in the 3[rd] week of August at the Northfield site. Paul Johnston, his Family and a team from Our Fathers House (USA) came and preached, lead worship and served for the conference. We thank God for the move of His Spirit during this time and saw wonderful blessings such as people coming to Faith in Jesus Christ, some being restored to their faith and 14 people baptized.
The sunflower field was replanted this summer but unfortunately due to weather conditions effecting growth was not open fully to public. Whoever those flowers that did bloom where gathered and members of the church visited neighbouring housing estates with bunches to give out. This gave wonderful opportunities to connect with many in the local community.
Sunday services resumed in Glenada in September with the change of tabernacle nights being interchanged with home groups on a Tuesday evening. This was to encourage building up of connection and friendship between church members.
Christmas season was celebrated with different nights such as the special Daughters ministry craft night, a children’s movie night, a nativity play and a New Years eve party.
Throughout the year we have witnessed how God has transformed and renewed peoples lives and we pray that this will continue in 2024.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
The charity has a healthy cash flow and has no outstanding debits. The charity’s income comes through donations from the church members and from individuals known to the ministry. Most of the money donated is used for the day to day running costs of the charity with some placed into a saving account for future plans.
FUTURE PLANS
The charity aims to continue to build up its connection with the community of Newcastle as well as establish more connections within a wider church community. It is keen to see the physical and
spiritual needs of the community around us met by continuing to provide biblical teaching, practical help and pastoral care.
In the future the charity would aim to have a permanent structure that can house all the services in one place and be a hub for ongoing ministries to work from.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT.
The trustees also act as Directors for the charity. The charity has a joint leadership team made up of the directors. The each have equal responsibility, authority and power in decision making. When a unanimous decision cannot be made, a majority decision is reached. Within the context of Centre 61 Ministries these directors serve as leaders and are responsible for all decision making along with the wider church leadership team.
Centre 61 ministries has a memorandum and articles of association, the charity is constructed as a Limited Company by guarantee.
All trustees must pass a strict criteria, they must be above reproach, of a good reputation and be responsible with money. A unanimous decision must be reached by all trustees when appointing new trustees.
All risks posed to the charity are covered by professional indemnity insurance. All appropriate procedures and systems are in place to ensure that criteria are met to comply with insurance policies. The charity has safeguarding policy in place for working with children and all volunteers are appropriately vetted.
