Report of The Trustees St Com8all's Youth Club For The Year Ended 30 June 2023 Ick8round and Purpose St Comgall's Youth Club Ithe clubl has been operating for well over 40 year5 and from a range of buildin8S. Throughout thls perlod. it ha5 been providing a ser¥ice for the young people of Antrim and surrounding areas. Our purpose is to further the personal, social. educational and spiritual development of all chiklren and young people without distinction, with the object of enriching their lives in a safe and appropriate environment and to encourage them to have artive and re¥￿nSible participation in their community and society. In 2016 the dub moved into the newly refurbished St Corngalfs Youth Centre whith offers an excellent fa¢illty providing access to a hall. outdoor areas and se¥eral smaller rooms suitable for artslcraftsl computer games, board games etc. The Youth Centre also has a well-equipped kitchen. pool tsble area. tuck shop, office and meeting areas. In 2021 the club became a reglstered charity ￿ryth our operating year running from l July to 30 June. We are a part-time club, open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The Cowd 19 pandemic had a 5e¥ere impart on our operational capabillty and the club was mainly c105ed through 2020. rwpening in a phased capacity from September 2021. The dub received fijndlng from the Blg Lottery Awards for All which supported our'bounce bacy programme. The Trurtees would like to extend a bi8'thank you, to the Lottery as with their support the dub 15 well on its way to returning to tts pre pandemic prowsion. However, challenges remain. Historically the club have received funding frorn the Education Authority IEA) mainly for salary costs, alongside a few other funder5 following successful funding applications. Wrth changes to EA strategy, in 2022123 the club became primarily self-funding. Towards the end of 2022123 the Trustees made the strategic decision to trial a new operating model. moving to being a volunteer lead youth club. This decision was made primarily due to reductions in funding and challenges in recruiting a youth worker to a part-time youth club leader role. -Page2-

The club prowdes a range of artlvities and pmgrammes for young people from the age of 8 years to 25 year5 to 25 years and had 236 re8i5tered member5 in 2022123. The club is open 3 nights perweek: Thursday: Young Leaders Friday- P5 and P6 Saturdav.. P7, Year 8 and above Attendance: 10- 15 young people Attendance: 50- 65 young people Attendance: 20 - 35 young people Ad(ntrwledgements and Achlevements Young Leader: ThrouBhout the year we increased our number of leaders from 9 to 16. Thursday nights were developed for young leader5 to have a dedicated space for sociallsin& training. inputtlng and 5UPPOrting the development of the programme of activitse5 for the year. The young leaders have been an invaluable resource to the club. The Trustee wish to retognise and thank the youn8 leaders for the support that they have given. Their dedication, creativity, skills and enthusiasm. with many volunteering 2 nights per every week. Without this support it would not have been possible. on mary occas51(￿s, to operate and provide a seNice to other youth club members. Volunt•ws: Throughout the year and following a recruitment drive. we increased our volunteer pcw)I to 25 with a rota being set up for Friday and Saturday nF8ht cover. The Trustees wish to reco8nise and thank parents for offering their time and expertise and again wlthout their support the club, on many occasions. W￿ld not have been able to open. Pald 5taff:The Trustee5 would like to acknowledge and thank all the staff for their ongoin8 work, supFKrt and for their contribution to building on p05t covid recovery. We were challenged with a few personnel changes throughout the year which had an impact on leadership and management. Going forward and due to funding limitations, the Trustees are currently testing a new operating model and will regularly review the discussion to move forward a w)lunteer lead organlsation.

The funds raised donated to the local FOLKI Bank and SVP. In ralsln4 mlfftv Thè FrTrday night members ￿anned and helped organise a sponsored silence to raise funds forthe dLrb. O¥er members remaini￿ silent for an hourl This was quite an aChIe￿￿nt and In th¢ Pr￿¢$5. raised over £7￿. Report of The Trustees St Comgall'$ Youth aub For The Year Ended 30 June 2023 Good Relatlons Through the TBUC pro8ramme, in partnership with Bytes, we were able to offer opportuntties to 30 young people, developed links With Parkhall and Kells Youth Clubs, and take part in residential programmes and day trip artivities. Additionally. 10 young people achieved an OCN level I qualification. Work Experlence We were able to facilitate 2 of our young leaders gain work experience as part of thelr lower 6th school year requirements. Subsequently one of the young leaders went onto havin8 paid employment, through the same organisation. over the summer period, gainin8 valuable skills which they have brought back to the club. Additionally, 4 of our young leaders took on additional responsibility for a &month period organtsing activities and workin8 With young memebrs through the Awards for All funded programme. Festlve Fun and PartSes We organised and ran= -A Christmas disco and summer disco and BBQ with young leaders developing their DJ skills -Clnema nights with poptorn -End of year volunteer and young leader dinner attended by 6 volunteers and 14 youn8 leaders. And Flnally Re-opening has been rewarding and at time a very challenging task, particularly recrutting staff and volunteers. however rt has been heartening that throughout 2022123 an increased number of parents have come forward to volunteer and at the same time the skills of the young leaders have continued to develop and grow. At the end of 2022123 we are certainly in a stronger position and look forward to offering more opportunity for groW(h and fun for members in the coming years. Flnanclal Revlew During the year £11,467 of income was received. There was £8,756 of restricted funds brought forward from previous year. Out of this £8,756, £7,102 was spent, leaving a restricted reserve of £1.654 at 30 June 2023. Total expendtture for the year was £14,283. Total reseNes at 30 June 2023 were £11,407. Reserves polky The trustees would like to build up reseries to allow the charity to be in a position where it could comfortably deal wih any unforseen circumstsnces. Idealty they have set this level at between three and six months running costs. At 30 June 2023 there was the equivalent to nine months running costs in unrestricted reserves. This is above the ideal level of desired reserves as set by the trustees in their reseries policy. -Page5-

Re5pertive responsibilities of charlty trustees and examiner As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. Basis of independent examlner's report I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and my exarnination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under settion 6519llbl of the Charities Act. My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
