Objectives & Activities

Summary of the Objectives of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document:

The Association is established to advance religion, relieve poverty, hardship and distress and for the benefit of the public on the Donegall Road and its environs of Belfast City Centre (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”), with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said public and in particular:

a) to promote the Christian faith in benefit through evangelism, prayer events and meeting and street outreach activities.

b) to aid people within the area of benefit who are deemed to be homeless or sleeping rough or who are suffering from chemical dependence on alcohol or other drugs or from illness infirmity or disability connected with such chemical dependence through the provision of food, clothing and counselling.

c) to advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the Committee may, from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity.

Summary of the Main Activities Undertaken for the Public Benefit in Relation to the Charity's Objects:

The direct benefit which flows from the promotion of the Christian faith is that people’s lives are enriched as they are encouraged to live life in the knowledge that God loves them. Having faith in the Christian religion gives people a sense of hope and a sense of wellbeing and togetherness. These benefits are evidenced through evangelism prayer events and meetings and street outreach activities.

The direct benefit which flows from the relief of poverty, hardship and distress is that by aiding our beneficiaries, we are giving them the basics in life, food for nourishment, clothes to keep them warm and counselling to lend a listening ear to let them know they are not alone.

Achievements & Performance

Statutory Declaration

The trustees declare that they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the commission in exercising their powers or duties.

Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year:

We ran a street outreach programme which currently involves going out on the streets on a Friday evening in groups to show care and love to people sleeping rough in the street and to provide basic essentials.

This is all evidenced through numbers of people that we have helped. We plan in the future to develop a Training and Learning programme and a drop-in centre/Cafe where people can meet and talk about their problems and we also plan to reach out to the sick.

Financial Review

Brief Statement of the Charity's Policy on Reserves:

It is the policy of this RCCG-KGG Coleraine to hold in reserves the equivalent of two months general running costs. It is also our policy to hold an amount for likely outreach works at the next inspection. In view of the forthcoming street retreat next year, we have allocated £1,000 to reserves to cover our involvement. This policy will be reviewed in twelve months’ time apart from the Learning and training project element which will be reviewed in six months’ time when the situation is clearer.
