Introduction
The Glen Christian Trust (hereafter ‘the GCT’ or ‘the Trust’) was set up in 2020 and registered with the Northern Ireland Charities Commission on 11[th] October 2020. Its purpose was to receive the ownership of a property at 16-18 Glen Road, BELFAST, BT5 7JH and maintain it for the benefit of the Christian group that regularly meet there and to facilitate the dispensing of financial resources gifted to it by the Christian group and individuals for the benefit of persons in need and to support events aiming to reach people with Christian love, support and the gospel message.
The Trust maintains and supports premises to facilitate the holding of regular Sunday public worship services and midweek public Bible studies and prayer meetings. It promotes additional activities that are for the benefit of the local community, e.g. coffee mornings and a weekly club for children and young people drawing from Castlereagh and beyond (and other activities as the need arises in the future). The Trust also uses its building and funds to promote special Christian outreach events within the wider community. The Trust gives financial support to Christian missionary work, persons in need due to hardship, ill-health, poverty and/or persecution; and to other charities who carry out poverty relief and/or Christian missionary work.
In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries. We have adopted the guidance from the NI Charity Commission in preparing a Receipts and Payments Account for smaller charities in setting out our financial report.
Aims of the Trust
As set out in the GCT Deed the trust’s aims for public benefit are to advance the Christian faith in Northern Ireland and elsewhere as follows:

To hold church service and public meetings for praise, worship, bible teaching, prayer and fellowship by providing a forum where the Christian faith can be more fully understood in a practical way that allows the participants to serve the local community. It also provides participants with support, both practical and spiritual, in their everyday lives with improved spiritual, mental and/or physical outcomes and reduced levels of anxiety and fear.

To provide activities, religious education and teaching for children and young people aiming to improve the life chances of children and young people who attend events and activities. This improvement is achieved by the development of life and social skills that help to equip children and young people to realise their full potential as active and responsible citizens. It also provides improved spiritual, mental and/or physical outcomes and reduced levels of anxiety and fear.

To provide facilities in the interests of social welfare which are in sympathy with the aims of the GCT , aiming to improve the practical and physical social welfare condition as well as improved mental condition of participants. It also provides improved spiritual, mental and/or physical outcomes and reduced levels of anxiety and fear.

4. Any such other charitable acts as will (or will tend to) promote or encourage the Christian faith.
In this report, we will aim to demonstrate how these aims have been met between 1[st] April 2023 to 31[st] March 2024 and to use the same format as last year to summarise our activities under the four aims. This is followed by a summary of the GCT finances for our financial year.
Summary of activities
To hold church service and public meetings for praise, worship, bible teaching, prayer and fellowship by providing a forum where the Christian faith can be more fully understood in a practical way that allows the participants to serve the local community.
We have facilitated the building being used every week for Christian meetings that are open to the public including three meetings on Sundays and one on Tuesday evenings. Every month an extra Christian meeting has been held on a Friday/Saturday evening. Two larger Fellowship Meeting Conferences attracting around 70-80 people were held on 29[th] April 2023 and 27[th] January 2024 and we anticipate holding at least two of these per annum. People of a variety of ages and backgrounds were able to benefit from these occasions.
We provided funds for the purchase of food and ingredients for a free meal on the premises during the Fellowship Meetings for all those who attended.
To facilitate all these events, we have been responsible this year for organising the following:

Servicing of the fire and burglar alarm systems.

Payment of utility bills.

Purchase of replacement tap and door hinges to repair damages.

Purchase of materials for cleaning and use of kitchen appliances.

Purchase of consumables, toiletries, etc.

Purchase of new wall mounted speakers and cables.

Purchase of storage units for the store.

Ground maintenance.

To provide activities, religious education and teaching for children and young people aiming to improve of the life chances of children and young people who attend events and activities.
The SAFEkids club has continued this year. The numbers of primary aged children regularly attending have remained steady at around 9. We funded two advertising flyers to be delivered in the area and a digital version was advertised through five local primary schools. We have also funded the purchase of materials and consumables for the activities involved in SAFEkids. Children of primary school age have benefitted from this activity.
We would like to thank Rhoda Kim for continuing in the voluntary role of Child Protection Officer required in our Child Protection Policy.
We funded the purchase of prizes for the first SAFEkids club prize day in June to which the parents of all children were invited. Ice lollies and other refreshments were provided after the event.
We have continued to review our Safeguarding Policies targeted at protecting children and vulnerable persons at children’s events and made a few minor changes. We have kept a record of all volunteers who have been trained in the use of these policies.
We continue to maintain a list of registered child workers for SAFEkids club and any other child-based events.

The Drop-in Coffee Morning offering free hot drinks and snacks to the local community two Thursday’s a month has continued throughout the year. About 10-20 mainly older people have been attending providing a social time for some who are experiencing loneliness. We have funded the consumables for this event and purchased a second banner for fixing to the front fence to make the event more visible.
We have continued to make payments to several individuals in need of specific support including help with caring responsibilities, those facing health issues and several who required support during a time of unemployment or financial uncertainty.

In December, the premises were used again to host our annual Carol Sing event which was open to the public and we funded food for a light buffet meal of Christmas treats during this event (free to the public). A number of people from the local area and beyond attended and benefitted from this event.
We have funded the production of the ‘Shining Light’ gospel leaflet which is distributed door-to-door in the Braniel area as well as advertising leaflets for the SAFEkids club, Coffee Morning and the Carol Sing.

We have made donations to a number of individuals who are in need, who required support for serving others or who were seeking to reach others with the gospel message both in Northern Ireland and abroad. Some of this involved supporting other Christian groups who have high rent costs to help them carry out their own service to others.
We have continued to facilitate the donation of funds to the Dorothy Stone Trust (Charity number (in England): 1010626) to support their work in helping others around the world with a variety of needs as requested.
We have also facilitated the donation of funds to the Stone Publishing Trust (Charity number (in England): 1034689) to support their work in publishing the Youthful Day’s magazine and purchasing prizes and certificates for the associated international Bible Class.
