STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Mackey Estate (Crumlin EPC) is governed by the will of Andrew Park Mackey dated 21° December 1989.
Registration with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland was completed on l5 December 2020.
The Trustees of The Mackey Estate are the elders and deacons of CrumliT] EPC, and are therefore appointed by
means of elder and deacon elections, voted for by the membership of Crnmlin EPC, and in lÈne with the procedures
and requirements of the Evangelical Pre5bJterian Church. All Tn￿teeS give of their time freely and no Trustee
Ternuneration was paid during the yeai. There are currently nine Trustees who bave overall responsibility for the
charity and its governance. During the year four Truslee Tneetings were held.
DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
The charitable purpose is that the funds are to be used by Crumlin Evangelical Presbyterian Church for the work
it carries on as the Elders and Deacons Board thereof for the time being shall in their absolute discretion decide
appiopriate.
ACTIVITIES AND OBJECTIVES
The Mackey Estate is used to support the work of Crumlin Evangelical PreSb￿erlan Church, both by helping to
facilitate the local ministy of the church, and also by sending financial help to partner churches and miSSiOTI
organisations as needs arise.
ACHIEVEIIIENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The Mackey Estate continue5 to provide for the general upkeep and maintenance of the building and grouTbds
belonoing to Crumlin EPC, and various costs related to the maintenance of church PToperty, such as grass cutting,
cleaning and general repairs. The estate a150 provides funding for the heating and lighting of the building in order
to facilitate the weekly church service5 and otheT mini5tri¢s taking place in the church buildillg tbroughout the
week, as well as providing financial support for the Tllinistry of Cntmlin EPC both in its local context and through
associated mission work.
Durlng the 2023 year The Mackey Estate's maiii source of income was rent that accrued from the agJicultural
land which was rented out (totalling £5,040 for the year). In addition to this the Esraie also has an investment
portfolio which increased in value by £143,657 over the course of the year. The Trustees of The Mackey Estate
meet with a financial advisor on an annual basis in order ￿ be updated on the inve5trllents and receive relevant
advice for how lo manaLye the funds responsibly. The Trustee5 also increased the estimated current market value
of the Trust, s 42 acres of atiriculiural loan by £105,000 during the year.
Throughout 2023, the trustees met on four occasions to discuss the work of The Mackey Estate. In addition to the
tnoney that was used to help facilitate the work of the church at Cwmlin Evangelical Presbyterian Church, The
Mackey Estate was also able to help support some mission partners. with £2,000 being donated to promole the
work of International Mission to Jewish People, another £2,000 donated to the work of The Christian Institute,
and £1,297 used for funding a short-term mission trip to India.
The Trusiees have had regard io the Charity Commission's Public Benefit Tequirernent.

PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT
The direct benefits that flow from this purpose are the encourauement of panicipation in beneficial activities
withtn our own community in Crumlin and tbroughout the world, resulting in improved spiritual wellbeing and a
greater knowledge of the Christian faith. as well as the practical outworkino of this in the lives of those reached.
These benefits are evidenced by the numeTOUS church building project5 that The Mackey Estate has helped to fulld
not only in Crumlin but throughoul Ireland and across the world, and the benefit5 that result from these works as
they bring positive influence to their communities. Locally. The Mackey Estate is used to facilitate the upkeep of
the church premises in Crutlllin, atEd promole the ministy of the church. These benefits are also evidenced by
Teports that we receive fro￿ those we have helped, and also independent evaluation of what is being done by
others. When considering which Works to support, care i5 taken to ensure that there is no ham) in doing so, and
that the money is used to bring needed help. Beneficiaries of The Mackey Estate are any who ate helped through
the ministy of Crllmlin Evangelical Presbyterian Church. or any of the other works to which we have given
support. There is no private benefjt flowing from the PUTpose of The Mack¢y Estate.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
In the year ended 31, December 2023 the charity had toial income of £5.053 compared with £6,877 in the previou5
yeaT. During the 2022 year the freehold interest in residential property was sold generating proceeds before fees
of £24,000.
Total expenditure incre&sed from £71.178 in 2022 to £76 J40.
At the end of the period the charity had net assets of £2,824,900 including cash at bank of £3.020.
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financial statements of the Charity in
accordance with applicable law and generally accepied accouniing practice.
As the charity's total income does not exceed £250.000, the Trustees have elected under Section 64(3) of the
Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 to prepare a receipts and payment account and a statement of assets and
ITabilities.
The Trnstees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the
Charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time its financial position. They are also
responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and
detection of fraud and other irreg7ularities.
