The Muslim Associatlon of Newry is established for the benefit of Muslim families in Newry
& Mourne and surrounding areas of Co Down and Co Arniagh. The Muslim community has
gradually increased in the area and there is pressing need to support the social, cultural and
religious needs of the community.
The association support and promote the welfare of Muslim families, providing education
especially to children and religious guidance to families.
The Association also extend help and support to Muslims who are new immigrants to this
arca and to those who are inmates of prisons. The Association also hopes to provide help and
Chaplaincy support to any Muslim patients who may be sickfill in the community or in
hospitals in the area.
The Association hopes to raise funds for charity to support variety of organisations and
indÈviduals in the community.
The Association has been involved in activities with cross cultural and interfaith links for
promotion of religious social and culturnl harniony and integration. The AssocÈation hope to
hold event& lectures, fimd raising activitie& with other communities.
The Association has been involved in visiting schools in the are4 to promote better
understanding of Islam in school& by holding lectures and discussions.
The Association is attempting to acquire premises to hold its cultural, educational and socia
activities.
