The charity is an unincorporated association established under a constitution.
In fulfilling the public benefit requirement, the charity trustees have had regard to the Chrity Commission for Northern lreland’s statutory public benefit guidance.
The purpose of the charity
The purpose of Omagh Quilters Guild is to Provide an organisation that encourages its members to promote the craft of quilting for the public benefit by offering inspiration through regular meetings, workshops and demonstrations.
The information below sets out the activities we have carried out to further our purposes and fulfil the public benefit elements during the past 12 months.
Activities
Omagh quilters guild reconvened on September 10th after our usual summer break.
As a group we endeavour to organise a group of activities for the benefit of all our members and to encourage and challenge us to push the boundaries on our quilting journey.
The AGM was held on October 7.
Autumn was very busy. Our ink-tense project during these months gave us alla great focus.
Andrea Hayes from Cookstown conducted a very inspirational Wet Felting Workshop on November 28" where challenging techniques were taught. This continues to build on the skills involved in patchwork and quilting especially relating to textile applique skills.
Christmas lunch in Sika on December 11* was enjoyed by all, creating opportunities for social interaction, helping to build deeper connections and a stronger sense of belonging among community members. It is a valuable opportunity to publicly acknowledge the hard work, achievements, and support of the group's members, making them feel valued and appreciated.
Show and Tell group sessions continues to inspire each of us as we share the various projects made by our members.
In the interest of Health & Safety a PAT testing day was held on January 30".
Application for Micro Grant relating to Age Without Limits Day submitted on February 7,
Roberta convened a Quilted Book Cover Workshop February 17*". It was a stimulating event with stunning results.
Through the Quilters Guild of Ireland members were invited to a Show & Tell at the Ulster American Folk Park. A lovely time was had by allin attendance, and we met with other like-minded quilters from Belfast, Cookstown, Donegal and Ederney. The Curator from the museum selected a range of antique quilts from the archives to show the skill and creativity and a glimpse into life in the 1800’s. Atruly spectacular event, enjoyed by all. Members enjoyed a day out to the annual quilt fayre in the Everglades Hotel, Derry on May 9".
Essential funding received via FODC of £300 May 22".
We travelled to Clones June 10" to visit a quilt shop with a large variety of fabric. The store put on tea and scones in their garden for us and dinner in the local hotel rounded off a very enjoyable outing for us.
Roberta shared and demonstrated a pattern for making a bag 26" June which brought us to our year end.
Finances
In the financial year we had a balance of £955.79 and petty cash £40.17 and collected fees of £1100 and had income from the sale of wadding of £168.00 along with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council’s grant aid for the year 2024 being paid to the group, provided an income of £1568 and brings the current total balance to £2563.96.
Rent was paid to Dun Uladh Cultural Centre which along with other expenses gave us a total expenditure of £1198.50.
Our assets are tow Janome Sewing Machines acquired in 2020 and we have no liabilities.
The Charity’s finances are in surplus and accounts are prepared to comply with the requirements of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
