Maine Integrated Playgroup is a commiinity playgroup based in Randalstown, County Anlrim
Northern Ireland. Jt provides early years education for pi'e-school children and its main
source of income is from the Education Authority in Noilhern Ireland. The funding is on a
per child basis and Maine Integrated Playgroup can caler for up to 24 preschool aged children
in morning sessions Monday to Friday durinR the academic year.
Aims
The vision for Maine Intcgrated Playgroup is to ensure children are eimotionally and
physically healthy, eager, and able to learn and regpcctful of difference. Maine Inlegraled
PlayLJroup aims to pr()vide a structured play-bas¢d setting for children of stdtutory school age
in thL Randalstown and District area and lo deliver the following outcomes:
Preparation of ea¢h child for primary school
Mastering the basi¢ skills of expression, communication. Problem solving, early
mathematics. creativity, knowledge of the world around us, experimentation and
physical d¢velopment

Maine Integirated Playgroup i.q governed by a Constitution adopied on 5, January 2008 and
updated and approved by the meinbers of the committee on I I ' Novembir 2014. A
management Committee of volunteers ovcrsees thc operation of th¢ Playgroup. AGM is held
each Nov¢mbei' and all parents are made aware of the AGM and encouraged to attend. The
makcup of the managemcnt coinmittee changes ye<trly childrcn normally allend Maine
Integratcd Playgroup for one ycar only beforc progr&s5ing lo P l in 5¢hools in the
Randalstown and Dislrict area. In November 2022, Mrs Caoilthionn Wilson assumed the role
of Chairperson, Maine Jntegratgd Playgroup Manageinenl Conimittee.
Northern Trust Social Services are th¢ statutory authority who overs¢e the operation of the
Playgroup. Social Services worked closely with the Management committ¢¢ in 23-24 in
supporting Mrs Wilson in her Chairperson's role.
No saf¢guarding conccrns were raised regarding Maine Integrated Playgroup in 2023-24.
Maine Integrated Playgroup contracts an Indcpendenl Early Years special 151 to support the
Playgroup Leader and staff with the operation of the playgroup.
The Trustees have regard to the public benefit of the charity. The Trustees worked hard in
2023-24 to achieve the charity's aims namely..

On-site activities Such as the Christmas play in December 2023 help to further the charity's
aims- specifically aim 2 of Maine Inlegrated Playgroup and a raffle provided modest

fundrdising. Staff and volunteers of the charity gained an Incidental Benefit in the fom) of
training and vetting to allow them to perfom) their roles. This could be regarded as a benefit
as the skill and training could be tran5ferrable to other roles.

Independent examinerfs report to the charity trustees of Maine Integrated Playgroup. I report on the
accounts of the Association for the year ended 31 March 2024.
As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with
the Charities Act {Northern Ireland) 2008. It is my responsibility to-
examine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act
follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Commission under section
65{91{b) of the Charities Act
• state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report I have examined your charity accounts as required under
section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general
Direttions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 6519)Ibl of the
Charities Act.
My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of
the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or
disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any
such matters.
My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to
believe:
l. That accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 63 of the Charities Act
2. That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records
3. That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act
4. That there is further information needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be
reached.
