The trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023.
The financial stslements have been prepared in ac¢ordanee with the accounting poliaes set out in note 1 to the
financial statements and comply with the chanVs goveming document, the Companies Acl 2006 and "Accounting

This document has been prepared based on the guidance provided by the Charity Commission and Trustees have
had regard to the Commission's Public Benefil requirement Statutory guidanee.
Objectives and aetivities
The Bethany Community Trust was set up by members of the Limavady Community wf(h the objecb've of building a
local communty hall on the site of a parish hall that was destroyed in a fire in 2009.
The sf(e of the Community Centre lies in an identffied area of deprivation. Accordingty, the Bethany Trust was able
lo attract funding from the Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund whi¢h operates under the auspices of the
Oepartmenl for Communities (D for Cl in Northem Ireland. The applrcalion was successful and the Trust received
grant of £400,000 towards the cost of the building.
The cost of the build was approximately £1 rnillion. The Parish of Limavady provided £720,000 wth the balance
coming frorn the Neighbouthood Renewal Investment Fund. The build work was completed in 2020 and the charity
look delivery of the keys in September 2020. The building was used infrequenlty over the firsl years. The
calendar year 2022 was the first year when the Bethany Community Centre was free to open without Covid-19
restrictions.
The day to day management of the Community Centre is carried out by a steering group drawn from the drfferent
groups using the facility.
Public benefit
The trustees have paid due regard lo guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the
charity should undertake.

Structure, governance and management
The Bethany Community Tnjsl, a private company limf(ed by guarantee, was incorporated on 17 November 2016
(company No: Nl 6422001. The D1￿clOr$ of the Trusl are all drawn from the Eocal communty and give their time and
professional expertise completely free of charge.
The Northem Ireland Charities Commission approved The Bethany Community Trusfs registration on
23 November 2020.
The trustees, who are also the directors for the purpose of company law, and who seNed during the year and up to

Any person who is willing lo act as a trustee, and is permrtted by law lo do so. may be appointed to be a Irustee by

Unless othemise detemiined by the company in General Meeting the number of trustees shall be not less than two.
None of the trustees has any benefirial inlerest in the company. All of the trustees are members of the company and
guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of a ￿￿ndIng up.
