Annual Report for financial year ending 31 August 2023 The trustees of Friends of Ebrington PTA are pleased to submit their report and accounts for 5t the period I September 2022 to 315t August 2023. Purposes The purposes of the committee is to advance the education of pupils in the school, Ebrington PS & NU, in particular by: -developing effective relationship5 between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. -to study and discuss matters of mutual interest relating to education, enrichment, environment and welfare of pupils -engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils. Beneficiaries The beneficiaries of any funds raised by the committee, through the Friends of Ebrington PTA are, primarily, the pupils directly linked with the school. There are times when the committee may wish to make links with the local community and include them in some events/ activities, as this promotes further involvement with the stakeholders associated with the school. Activities & Achievements this year School had started to return to some normality after Covid closures and restrictions, so PTA were excited to plan again their annual summer fair, as well as a number of smaller events during the year. Meetings returned to being held within the school building, rather than online , in the evenings, with seven meetings in total, running through from November 2022 to June 2023. The November meeting saw a change in re-election of members and office bearers. It was agreed that L Dunne would step down as Chair, having had four successful years in the role, while B Guthrie would remain as vice-chair. It was agreed that other office bearer positions would be reviewed at the next meeting, so positions of Chair, secretary and treasurer remained vacant until that time. At this meeting, it was agreed to support the school and fund the costs with their annual Christmas Santa event, (£4701
A drive for new members to Friends of Ebrington PTA took place, through the vice-chair th {and school principall, B Guthrie, on 8 January 2023. This resulted in a number of new members with fresh ideas attending the next meeting on 23rd January 2023. At this meeting, the role of the PTA was outlined to all, as well as a reminder of the PTA constitution. Following this, an election of office bearers took place. Following voting, L Mcmackin was elected as Chair, B Guthrie remained as vice-chair, D Blair was elected as secretary and L Campbell was elected as treasurer. Following this, ideas for potential fundraisers were discussed among the group. These included an Easter Egg hunt, film night, rubber duck race, beetle drive, PTA quizzes, craft stalls, car boot sale5, teddy bear picnic and summer fair, Following discussion, it was agreed to focus on two Spring events-'Find the Leprechaun, and a whole school disco/ magic show. For the summer term event, it wa5 agreed to go with the summer fair, with potential to tie in with our local community groups. A uniform swap, with the idea of supporting parents with the cost of uniforms, was also discussed. The meeting in February clarified the organisation required for the 'Find the Leprechaun, as well as confirming dates for the school discos/ magic show. This was to be coordinated within school in the first 2 weeks of March. School disco dates were also agreed to be 20 April. Caw community/ Ebrington fun day was discussed at further length, while the idea that a Friends of Ebrington PTA newsletter be published to parents termly was also raised, with the idea of informing parents what was being done with funds raised and what events were coming up to be supported. The March meeting was held and focussed on success of 'Find the Leprechaun,, which raised £323 within school. Fi nal planning for school d iscos took place, as well as initial planning for the summer fair. It was also agreed to hold the uniform swap at the summer fair. th April's meeting incorporated a review of the school disco/ magic show, which brought in a gross profit of £617.10, while there were outgoings of £181.75 (magician £150 & disco awards £31.75). It also gave the opportunity to finalise more detai15 for the summer fair. The meetings in May and June focused solely on the planning for the summer fair, with Poster design, planned layout of events and staffing various areas were sorted. Craft stalls were also agreed, as was potential for Friends of Ebrington PTA to be involved in supporting sports day. Financial Review The year ended with a fund balance of £ 1995, compared to £ 1982 in the year to 31 August 2022. st Income Income receipts for the year totalled £ 3922. These were from the fundraising events during the year, the'Find The Leprechaun, (E323), School Disco (£617.10) and the Summer Fair {£2973) and then bank interest of £ 9.
Expenditure Expenditure for the year totalled £ 1089. This was because of the costs involved in the activities planned during the year. The Day with Santa gifts came at a cost of £ 470, ensuring each child in the school received a small gift from Santa. The cost of the magic show and school disco was £ 181.75 (Magician £150 & dance awards £31.75}. The cost of expenses for the summer fair fun night was £417.43. A nett transfer to funds of £ 2820, from the school account, to assist with the payment of school resources during the year, resulted in the surplus of £13, leaving the PTA account with a cash at bank/ hand total of £1995, compared to £1982 at the end of August 2022.
