Annual Report for financial year ending 31 August 2022
The trustees of Friends of Ebrington PTA are pleased to submit their report and accounts for
the period 1st September 2021 to 31st August 2022.
Purposes
The purposes of the committee is to advance the education of pupils in the school,
Ebrington PS & NU, in particular by:
-developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with
the school.
-to Study and discuss matters of mutual interest relating to education, enrichment,
environment and welfare of pupils
-engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and
advance the education of the pupils.
Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries of any funds raised by the committee, through the Friends of Ebrington
PTA are, primarily, the pupils directly linked with the school. There are times when the
committee may wish to make links with the local community and include them in some
events/ activities, as this promotes further involvement with the stakeholders associated
with the school.
Activities & Achievements this year
The impact of school closures due to Covid 19 has had a significant impact on activities
organised and run by the Friends of Ebrington PTA during this past year. The focus Within
the school community was to return to some sort of school normal, having had two
extended closures for pupils.
With several mitigations still i n place within schools, as to how curriculum and activities
could be managed and delivered, a small number of events were held, with limited
opportunities for fundraising.
Meetings were held during this past year via Zoom, in the evenings, and were limited to two
meetings in total.
The October meeting saw a change in re-election of members and office bearers. It was
agreed that L Dunne would remain as Chair, while B Guthrie would remain as vice-chair. A

Mccarter was proposed and seconded to replace J-A Patterson as Secretary, with D
Mcsparron being proposed and seconded to replace D Devine as treasurer.
The annual Christmas Card design activity was discussed. This proved to be a great
fundraiser for school, with a profit made on the cards, once production costs had been paid
out to the company, Print Chameleon.
The annual Friends of Ebrington PTA Christmas raffle was also planned at this meeting.
Again, another profitable event, with a healthy gross ticket sales. Costs confirmed for ticket
price and the £300 prize money as the main prize {from Friends of Ebrington PTA funds),
saw an overall nett profit for the event. A number of local businesses connected to school
were very good in supporting this event and donating prizes, which contributed to the
success.
The 'Day with Santa, returned to school, after missing the previous year due to Covid 19.
Although the format was changed from previous, with classes coming in small groups seated
a little further away from Santa than normal, all pupils reported enjoying the event. Each
child was given a small treat from Santa, at a cost paid out of Friends of Ebrington PTA
fund5.
The meeting in May gave the opportunity to meet before any summer events would be
th
planned. Due to the 100 anniversary celebrations of the formation of Northern Ireland, the
local community group had approached the Friends of Ebrington PTA about running a joint
venture for our school and local community. This was a great success. Full Swing
Entertainment, and a number of smaller produce companies, were in attendance, with the
cost of Full Swing shared between the Caw/ Nelson Drive Community group and school.
The May meeting was also a time when we had to make a number of changes to our
trustees, due to changing parents in school. H Bell was now to replace D Mcsparron, with L
Mcmackin replacing N McBride.
Financlal Review
Financial performance for the year resulted in a surplus of income totalling £797.
The year ended with a fund balance of £ 1982, compared to £ 1185 in the year to 31
August 2021.
st
Income
Income receipts for the year totalled £ 1658. These were from the fundraising events during
the year, the Christmas raffle and Christmas card designs, which brought in £ 1656 and then
bank interest of £ 2.
Expenditure
Expenditure for the year totalled £ 2441. This was as a result of the costs involved in the
activities planned during the year. The Day with Santa gifts came at a cost of £ 478, ensuring

each child in the school received a small gift from Santa. The cost of the raffle tickets for the
Christmas Raffle was £ 90. School badges, purchased through Friends of Ebrington PTA,
came at a cost of £ 373. These were given to each child to mark the Platinum Jubilee of
Queen Elizabeth 11. The Nl Centenary Fun Day came at a cost of £ 1500. This was an event
ran in conjunction with Caw/ Nelson Drive Community Group, with both organisations
sharing the cost equally. This was a 'one-off' event and a large cost like this would not affect
the fundraising capacity of the Friends of Ebrington PTA in the future.
A nett transfer to funds of £ 1580, from the school account, to assist with the payment of
the Nl Centenary Fun Day, resulted in the surplus of £797, although there had been an in
year overspend within the PTA account of £ 783.
